:thinking:  How is it more impressive than Moana when it made less WW?

Relative to expectations. Sing looked crap and held its own everywhere. I am sure its more profitable as difference in WW gross is China gross. Sing did better domestic and even matched Moana in Japann which is a disney territory.

SING was the #7 most profitable film of 2016, more than all other animated films except Pets. It made a net profit of 194 million.

Here's a breakdown of its net profit:

Yes, this was discussed in the Deadline Countdown Topic and I still call shenanigans on the marketing numbers that Deadline had for Illumination movies compared not only to to other animated films but other blockbusters.  This movie was advertised for a full YEAR before it came out just as SLOP was.  The TV ad spend alone was not only bigger than every other non Illuminated animated film but every other blockbuster.  According to itvspot which Variety highlights each week, $30m+ more was spent on TV ads in the US for Sing than Rogue One.  Unlike Minions with it's humongous near $600m in marketing Sing and SLOP did not have hundreds of millions in partnership marketing since they weren't selling an already popular brand.

Lol The Disney fanboy butthurt is strong......relax man. Must be frustrating for you, to see  non-Disney films make so much money. The horror...

Congratulations on a completely off track and worthless response.

134 million world P&A for Sing does sound a bit on the low price but still in the realm of possible (because they do not split dom/oversea and that we don't have much grasp on the rest of the world marketing it is hard to fully judge it)

Couple of example of known world P&A for animated movies:

Smurf = 133 million

Smurfs 2 = 120.16 million

Cloudy with a chance of meatball 2 = 112 million

Hotel Transylvania = 108.17 million

Cloudy with a chance of meatball 1 = 98.5 million

Illumination markets just as heavily and around the calendar O/S as it does domestic - which is rewarded with it's consistently enormous O/S B.O.

It's in another league than Sony animation or even Dreamworks or Disney when it comes to marketing
