This could mark the start of a new franchise for 2020s.

2010s has been dull for the birth of the new franchise. The only notable new franchise we had from 2010s was THG and Minion.

The rest are endless Marvel/DC superhero (long running franchise that got upgraded into universe), nostalgic-driven yet soulless remake like your Disney affair, some extension of pre-existing franchise like SW/Fantastic Beast/ Hobbit/ F&F/ MI.

In addition to making Part 2, there are 5 more novels from the original author + many released after his death. So if the movie gets a following, it could last for a very long time.

good trailer. This movie will bomb if it releases in theaters. They should release it to HBO MAX and have it become an HBO Max series rather than a movie series

it will also bomb on HBO Max. just because they can hide the fact that it bombed because they're not obligated (and no is) to release streaming numbers doesn't make it any better.

besides someone on r/boxoffice mentioned that HBO Max isn't available to all americans so that doesn't help as well. (if it's true)

Some nice visuals but given the director we knew we'd be getting those. Other than that I thought it was a pretty clunky trailer. I'm sure the movie will be fine (maybe even great!) but I was a lot more excited for Blade Runner. Been meaning to read the books for a long time so I may give the first one a go prior to this bombing being released.

Trailer is fine but they need to keep the December date for international territories. Holiday time-frame is more crucial for something like Dune. Move WW84 to february/march where it will do great.

Because the last Dystopian Sci-Fi movie to get a holiday release did so well.
