shayhiri
This movie will bomb so bad it is depressing. BR2049 will look like Avatar (the biggest movie ever) - compared to this.
Valonqar
Dune's gonna bomb while looking like Avatar compared to BR2049.

I think Warners is taking the gamble because if Dune is a hit they not only have a sequel, they have a franchise. given the number of Dune Novels there are out there. JGAR4LIFE
I must’ve read wrong. I read somewhere that they were developing the second half into a film by itself.

That is what is happening, it is just that Warners is holding off actually greenlighting the second half until they see how the first half does. No guarantee that the second half will happen. it's not like what happened with LOTR where Jackson convinvced the studio to let him shoot all three parts at once. One reason is that the Second half will cost quite a bit more then the first half because the second half is where the really huge battle scenes happen. Yet I still like trampling on opportunistic Marvel zombies... Go figure. 2/3rds of Endgame was insufferable bore-fest (only the middle part, with Fat Thor and Hulk was some fun). Too bad that from now on it has to be Marvel's biggest film ever. They had much better ones - back in the day when Tony Stark was still fresh. filmlover
Also Deadline says WB is still planning on releasing something November 20. Isn't Suicide Squad supposed to be shooting in the coming months? Maybe that since its current release date of August 2021 is so far away.
