Good.

I still say we should have gotten Tom Holland instead of that Timmy guy. Would have been much funnier, warmer, and less slow too.

On another note, no need to talk about if Dune is good or not. It's settled.

I don't fret about boxoffice anymore. We are getting Part 2. It's going to increase. And then we can think of Messiah. All in all, very happy. :cloud9:

Yeap, there's no need to fret anything with the box office either. It's a great start for Dune (franchise) and Part 2 is coming. Adjusting to HBO Max and other factors compared to pre- or post-pandemic times, it's Batman Begins type of start so we should be more than happy of it.

Can this movie still manage $100 million, even with a 60+% drop?

Yes, even if it can't reach 100M following its natural course, we can't forget this is a awards player too, and it will have some boost/re-release after Oscar nominations.

I mean they opened to nearly identical 3-days and BATMAN BEGINS is going to more than double DUNE domestically but, um, sure

Maybe saw already in the weekend thread but yeah, taking into account HBO Max & other pandemic factors instead where Dune is now ending WW ($360-380m) would be closer to $500 in pre-pandemic conditions without HBO Max release. BB had inf.adj. $525m WW & $210m production budget where as Dune $165. $410m for Dune would put the WW/budget ratio the same but there are other factors either way but this as a simple comparison.

Very, very slim chance for a bump like with TDK but the idea is same. Make the real profit with Part 2 & Messiah. Anything over $500m for them in post-pandemic times would be a win for the studio.

2nd time around, Bardem's performance here feels underrated. He just steals the show whenever he is on screen.

And got applause at the end of this screening too.

Yeah, he is a perfect Stilgar and happy to see him more in Part 2. The little time he had in Part 1 was just perfection.

I agree, he absolutely killed it. I'm really happy he's playing the one character who'll get the biggest increase in screentime in part 2 (along with Chani).
