Benicio del Toro will play Stilgar

 

Viggo Mortensen will play Duke Leto

Viggo would be a great Duke 20 years ago. Now he's too old for Ferguson and Duke and Lady Jessica were similar age, there was no May-December or whatever.

Actually, according to the book, Duke Leto was 51 during the events depicted, and Lady Jessica was 37.

 

Viggo is now 60 and Rebecca is 35, so I don't think it's that much of a stretch

Hopefully the marketing gods at Warner Bros. find a way to make it appealing. Some big name should be Duke Leto.

I think Leo would be awful as Duke Leto. For one thing he looks and feels way too young (I know he's not that far off age-wise).

this is based on a legendary book (are they doing only the first book?) and it will be good. I think it has a chance to succeed at the BO this time

In think he just permanently looks young when we picture him in our heads.

 

On screen, he could look perfectly reasonable next to Chalamaletetelelmeta.
