The script was written by Villeneuve, Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Villeneuve is also producing along with Mary Parent and Cale Boyter.

That's not concerning at all. Really, even if you don't like the movies made from a screenwriter's prior credits, it has very little to do with whatever movie they're currently working on -- especially if their credit is shared with other writers.

Doubtful they'll go beyond first book (split in 2) as sequels are not well regarded and most Dune fans ignore their existence. I read first 3 and didn't hate Messiah and Children. Sy Fy adapted all 3 when I was a kid, and I recently revisited the series. In the big cast of laughably bad actors McAvoy shone for real, his success isn't a fluke.

@Alli Maybe they should have just rented Bale while still in character.

WB has nothing for October 2020 at the moment so I imagine this will go there.

Their Fall Sci Fi tentpoles almost always do gangbusters. I hope this does too because the book really deserves it. I still can't get over Chalamet for Paul though. Ugh.

what about the release date? next year?

Unless they rush it out, I doubt it. If anything this should hopefully come out in November/December 2021. Gives the post production enough time, after all we don’t even know when production will start.

You should have zero concerns when Villeneuve and Roth are also writing
