LMAO at the Marvel fans on the internet who say they will boycott every Sony movie ever because of this. I didn't realise funnybook movies were so important.

Those people are being ridiculous, but clearly you are just trying to stir the pot by calling them funnybook movies.

Summer 2021 feels a little bit crowded at the moment.

Disney should try and straight up trade some of the properties they gained from the fox deal for full Spider-Man rights. Trade alien, predator, die hard, and planet of the apes.

Only Sony movie? There are some fans out there who'll boycott all things Sony. No new PlayStation for them next year! :hahaha:

Yep. If that's what happened (and especially with Sony contradicting the claim that they didn't come to the table), really shitty move on their part.

That just makes Disney sound like a bunch of manipulative bullies. Assuming that’s true, it would almost make me want to boycott Disney movies.

LOL people really think Feige will let Spidey Holland go. As other pointed out, just a leverage tactic.

i'm thinking about transitioning into one of those fanboys who wants disney to buy every other entertainment company just so we can get a couple more 7/10 comic book movies. it's time.

Disney is being greedy, but they will only get half of the profits if they pay for half of the movie. And Sony has gained way more money from this deal than Disney, the Spidey solos got way bigger boosts by being in the MCU than the Avengers movies did by having Spider-Man. Disney are being greedy bastards, but Sony needs to realize that the only reason the are seeing this level of success is due to the MCU. They need to be more willing to compromise, and Disney needs to step back a bit. Calling people entitled children doesn’t help your argument.

Even at first step, we completely disagree. Sony have profited from this deal sure, it's evident by the huge boost solo Spidey films have gotten but you're forgetting one thing. Disney have also profited from this endeavor, the box office gross of Civil War, both Avengers movies were boosted due to presence of Spidey in it. That's without pointing to the real ca$h cow in form of merchandising. All those T-Shirts, Toys, Collectibles they made using Spider-Man likeness from MCU, their proceeds went directly to Disney pockets. Sony didn't get any as Disney own 100% of merchandising rights.

Spider-Man in merchandising alone generates over $1B in revenue for Disney every year. Now, they want an equal share in biggest franchise Sony own? How is that offer not egregious?

Besides, if you read the internet its basically marvel fans melting down adducing all of the blame on Sony on this. What they fail to realize is that, it was Disneys' greed which cooked this deal.

Meh a deal will be reached. This is James Gunn’s “firing” all over again

What sucks about that happening is Disney looking like the good guys when this is more on them than on Sony

Somewhere, out there, Tobey Maguire is hoping this happens so that there's a chance he can put on the spider suit again no matter how small it may be. Dude even said in an interview not too long ago that he hasn't had any offers the last few years.

Yep, this. I don't know how the hell fans can't see that.

Eh I wouldn't say Sony smells like roses. Marvel cleaned up their house, made Spiderman a hit again. So they now want bigger share and Sony's like, nah, we can take it from there now that table is set.

Either way, this will be a non-news when they reach the deal. Spidey's not leaving MCU. Take that to the bank.

I agree Disney needs to stop being greedy, but I don’t think merchandise really factors into this as Disney has fully owned that for a long time now. Sony needs to be more willing to compromise and realize they will not be nearly as successful without Marvel, and Disney needs to ask for less and cut down on the greed.

DIrect sequel to far from home but the only difference is that it’s Tobey instead of Holland. Tobey’s in high school hanging out with that fat kid and romancing zendaya and shit.

NO. Enough of this. I feel like Disney buying the X-Men made everyone so giddy over corporate takeovers, even though they're terrible, awful things.

But have you considered that they’re terrible, awful things except when they add more Marvel characters to the MCU? That’s probably the more philosophically principled take

If Tobey Maguire is back , I want a poker scene.

We want the real Tobey showing his true colors.

Well, hopefully the walkbacks are real and they work something out in the end. Just have to wait and see at this point, but if this is false hope that’s extra sucky.
