When did #CRUMBLING come about? Before BVS, right?

There was some poster that kept saying Jurassic World would crumble during and after its OW and would struggle to hit 450 or something.

Anyways, thanks MovieMan89 for making #NotAnEvent the new #Crumbling

They'll exist side by side.

The Lego Batman Movie is #CRUMBLING because it's #NOTANEVENT.

But how can we use a number benchmark when there's constant inflation? Does anyone really think it was possible to have 9 300m+ grossers at the end of last decade? No, it really wasn't because of inflation. So 300 is not the achievement it once was. In 2017 400 is not an event. 500 isn't either unless there is no premium inflation in there, in which case it's at the very bottom rung of an event and still debatable. 550 should be the true modern event benchmark, though that number could easily go up before we know it.

See, there's his caveat to change the goalpost again if RO goes past 550m.

The question is, do they work at the same studio and conspired to join the forum together?  Do they have sex with each other?  The world may never know

The world knows something: I will have their babies. And they will be insiders too.

The 254 page weekend thread has gone like this for @MovieMan89......

- Starts the thread trying to call out a certain someone and mocking them for saying the minimum Rogue One would open to was $150m and laughing at it not making enough money

- It becomes clear Rogue One is going to open above $150m so the argument instantly switches to it being a cash grab for making too much

- Argues that kids will hate it and won't have good word of mouth.  Saturday number comes in at $46.6m along with a vastly reduced Moana number showing kids like it and it might have good WOM

- Keeps arguing no way it will have a good multiplier or legs to get above $500m and totally #notanevent

- RTH casually waltzes in and says Sunday might be up to $41m or more and blowing every argument out of the water

- Rogue One likely to open very near $160m and showing great legs and word of mouth

What will the next flailing argument be?  Stay tuned.....

Let's switch gears here before someone here runs to a dictionary.

@MovieMan89  What would your critera be for R1 to show that it is getting 'good WOM'?  Not average, not great.  Just good.

(Might as well move on to something else that's just about as equally nebulous)

Hey, now you're getting it! While Lego Batman is likely to be a very big blockbuster, it is unlikely to reach the "event threshold."

You know, it's breakthroughs like this that make my work all worthwhile in the end.

As every time it happens, Rth's numbers really do unleash mayhem in these parts...

What additional surprises does MovieMan's Event-O-Meter have in stock for us? How will @Jayhawk and @cannastop react to the next rack of Box Office History #DumpLings offered to us dearly by @CJohn?

Tune in on the next episode of the "Rogue One - A Star Wars Story week-end thread" to find out!

Good WOM? Probably 3.2x+. Great WOM would be 3.5x+.

For the record I never made a definitive prediction on the WOM. Only that it's not for kids and I would vomit if WOM is great. ;)
