Bad WOM from EP7 and RO, lack of advertising, weak buzz.

Is it safe to say that the Chinese just dont really care about SW? It would make sense to me, since the Original Trilogy isnt important to them as far as i know it and both TFA and RO played heavily with the nostalgia factor, for which China coundt care less with that logic.

Even a 30% drop O/S = $792m    A 40% drop = $678m

I think O/S will be above domestic.

I agree. I am thinking 750m DOM / 680M OS / 1.43B WW.

Makes you wonder what Han Solo will do OS. At this point, I don't think even 450m is a lock. Maybe 400m?

Markets like Russia and China didn't have access to Star Wars in the 70s/80s for many reasons, that's why these 2 markets don't care about this franchise to begin with. If Disney wants SW to be more successful in these markets they'll have to work on it and that won't be easy.

Latin America seems to have more potential when it comes to the growth of Star Wars on the long run.

I didnt know Star Wars in itself is a market :ohmygod: Shouldnt the movie break all the records there? Thats like - a whole galaxy of markets! The exchange rate compared to our galaxy is probably :gold: but still :ohmygod:

Spoiler

maybe you could say that about Asian markets in general with the exception of Japan

definitely. Solo seems like  the least appealing Star Wars film so far. I would say 300/400 - 700 something

Bad WOM on EP7 ????

But the US critics and the majority of posters on here told me it was fantastic?!

You has answered yourself: US critics and most of posters here come from USA. China has different tastes. They prefer another HLW franchises.

meh, we always knew it would drop. Though if it goes below 700m either domestic or overseas I would say that is a bit disappointing

I would low a bit that barrier for the disappointment. Maybe over/under $650m is a good limit for the domestic performance. It means a 30% drop which is what, more or less, both Empire Strikes Back and Attack of the Clones dropped relative to Star Wars and Phantom Menace, respectively.
