Hopefully you're right about the good jumps today. I wonder what you were expecting, big picture-wise? I mean, from my POV, as a fan of the film and so wanting it to do very good box office, I'd be concerned about a $1.7m day if it was currently sitting at say $180m DOM and $400m WW. But R1 is at $480m DOM, so to me, every $$ it earns, and really has earned the last ten days or so, is pure gravy. The Big Picture is already established- R1 is a huge hit. Now it's just taking a victory lap. So cheer! Edited January 10, 2017 by SteveJaros

JonathanLB
I don't know if it's relevant to say, but TFA had a $14M weekend and after that went on to make $57M more. Rogue One just had a $22M weekend. If it only went on to make the same $57M even after a substantially larger weekend, it would still finish at $477M (after last weekend total) + $57M = $534M. Just saying... I saw Lion tonight, one of my final screeners. I really enjoyed it! Wow, what a crazy story. I thought the acting was great, imagery was really good. Very strong debut film from the director. PS: Too bad about A Monster Calls because it honestly is quite good. I would highly recommend checking it out on DVD / digital later (I say that since it's clearly going to be gone from theaters shortly). My girlfriend was crying at the end of it though, so don't expect an uplifting movie.

Rogue One just had a $22M weekend. If it only went on to make the same $57M even after a substantially larger weekend, it would still finish at $477M (after last weekend total) + $57M = $534M. Just saying... That's an interesting way of looking at it, though it's an indirect comparison since the $14m was TFA's 6th weekend instead of 4th weekend. I'm just comparing them day to day and it's at 56% of TFA's daily total as of this Monday. If that continues, it will finish at $547m.
Blaze Heatnix
With these numbers, Underworld better make at least 6 or 7 million for its second weekend. It might get a shot at making 35 million domestic. That doesn't matter though, because overseas grosses will probably give us another sequel. So, ladies and gentlemen, we'll have our Underworld: Last Wars soon. It'll be delicious and tastefully done, oh yeah.

Not really. 3D is useless for that kind of movie. I don't get why do producers try such thing. Resident Evil at least had some pretty cool shots ( I mean, Afterlife and Retribution ). I haven't watched the new one yet. However, Underworld in no way should justify a 3D movie. I'm glad people are rejecting the 3D version. 2D is where it belongs. Vote with your wallet.
