Hunt for the Wilderpeople | June 24, 2016 | Director: Taika Waititi

Seriously couldn't find the box office discussion thread.

@AABATTERY

I was gonna make one but a: I forgot and b: it had such a limited release in NA so it never really showed up on any of the charts. Thanks for making the thread though! It deserves that RT award.

The BOM main page for it doesn't show the foreign gross for some reason though.

Excuse the horrid formatting, I'll try fix it when I get home but I'm on mobile. The NZ gross was pretty remarkable. I've said it before, but it's worth taking a look at. It was a fun one to watch; it just kept going and going and going. It beat every Hollywood blockbuster last year.

Quite remarkable for New Zealand.

This is probably the movie I regret not seeing most from last year.

I think I intended to see it one weekend and then something came up and the next weekend it was gone from the local cinemas.

This was great. I found it very funny, and I have a bit of a picky funny bone. It was very touching as well, great ending. Film I would never even have heard of were it not for this site (and particularly @AABATTERY) so I'm thankful for that.

Watched it as a rental on Google Play, it's available on other digital platforms as well. I loved it so much I actually bought it afterwards. Highly recommend it, shame it wasn't given a wider theatrical release here.

It's New Zealand gross is equivalent to about $730M domestic, based on capturing about 6.4% of New Zealand's 2016 gross box office. (My estimate based on box office data from previous years and the 2016 average exchange rate.)

Most times, I'm pretty sure. We aren't Gopher and Baumer

I side with Tele on many things, with the exception of certain movies featuring Dinosaurs, A Snobbish Director with a stick up his ass (but who's films I like quite bit), and certain musicals.
