Ithil
EDIT: Wrong thread for Best Actor talk. I'll be very happy with a Shape of Water win if it happens, how often do you see a fairy tale revolving around a monster romance win Oscars? BardCrank
No SAG nom , No screenplay win but still best picture ( Can't complain , Fantastic movie ) put that into your calculations next year
Valonqar
Holy shit! It happened! A fantasy won again! I didn't watch cause I expected 3B to win but this is sure a nice surprise. And 3 Amigos all have Oscars now. Get Out was my winner choice but considering 3B domination I'm OK with anything that beat it and fantasy/genre doing so even more. CoolioD1
this feels like a big deal for genre filmmaking. ROTK won because it was such a huge phenomenon and i always thought it was only under those undeniable circumstances that a fantasy film would be able to win but SOW wasn't that it was just a good mid-budget movie. so it normalizes it in the awards race more. That said, BP is getting a nom next year, it's a done deal. Edited March 5, 2018 by Valonqar

It wasn't even a mid-budget film at 19M
