22nd embargo is only for US critics.

Overseas embargo dates may be eariler.

ViewerAnon also said in above that he heard whispers from early press screenings that the reaction is pretty positive.

I only go see mature, adult, complex, with a ton of intricate subtext and nuances R rated movies that deal with deep, important, realistic and gritty material.

Those PG-13 family entertaiment Pew-Pew movies corrupt the soul and cannot transcript the depth of the Human Experience and Condition.

Between ART and Amusement Parks I choose

ART

Every

Single

Time

I a not the one constantly implying uncounsciously a R Rating makes a movie "better" or adult-er (lol).

Please find me a thread on BOT where a R Rating is welcomed with scorn & critique.

It is always the other way around :

"Make it edgier,  make it dark & serious & bleak and violent, make it less Disney-y,  make it Tarantino-y, make it R !"

Sorry to remind people the realities of life.

I know, it is rude.

I think it's more about the fact (at least for me), that they didn't compromise too much and made the movie they wanted to make instead of hoping to make a few more bucks with a PG-13 rating

Don't worry, Futurist knows this. Calling out imaginary edgelords is just a bizarre obsession he's had since Logan.

Dark Fate was filmed with PG-13 and R scenes so that the decision could be made in post. As a result, I’m expecting this to be baseline R.

does one pay off the Chinese government to get an R-rated pic screened in China?

Probably cut, or as OncomingStorm93 said, they filmed alternate scenes that were more PG-13 appropriate for the China release.

Hardly surprising that they’d want to make sure it releases in China considering Genisys made more there than in the US if I remember correctly.

So kinda like T2? I'm fine with it

you can see some of it in this trailer, limbs flying off and some blood (1:10)
