DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS | 05.06.2022 | Disney | 4th Most Profitable Movie of 2022

Recommended Posts

This is good news! I liked the first DS okay, but it was kind of paint by the numbers, all in all.  Even though I don't like Spiderman all that much, Spiderman 2 still ranks as what I consider the best superhero movie.  Excited to see what he brings to the table with Marvel.

many reasons, maybe he liked the script , maybe he likes marvel studios, etc  also there is a balance between have 100% control on a movie, and have none, and also its not like other studios let the director do 100% what he wants

And it's not like Raimi is as hot a director as he was in the 2010's.

His last movie was "Oz:The Great And Powerful" and though it did not flop, it was a box office disappointment;made only a small profit for a big investment. Raimi sort of needs a big hit at this point.

Look I like Rami a lot but he ain't as big a player as he once was. And "Oz" his last film was only OK imho.

Not surprised Rachel McAdams is gone; her character and the whole storyline were just dull;almost a textbook example of the uncessary love interest nobody was really interested in.

Particulary when there are other love interests for Strange; bring on Clea.

In fact, when I first McAdams was in I presumed she was going to be Clea;she could have played the role but that is water under the bridge. The problem was not McAdams, she is a very good actress; but that the role was not very good.

Yeah can't see how this isn't a done deal at this point. With production starting in May it's likely that this was in the works for a while now.

Yeah, I suspect it's just a case of the lawyers ironing out the final detail on the deal.

People keep using Oz the Great and Powerful as a point of reference (Raimi working with Disney) but the more obvious comparison is Thor Ragnarok (a weird stylistic director working with Marvel)

And it's not like OZ was a great success. Look at the figures, it made a small profit for such a big investment.

I really think OZ was simply was not a good fit for Raimi's skill as a director.

This is coming from one of the biggest Scott Derrickson’s fans out there, I absolutely love his style and that goes ways back from Doctor Strange. With that said, this is excellent news. Raimi back in the superhero game in a film that blends that genre with horror is the best possible outcome for this. Even I as a Derrickson fan can’t deny that this is indeed an upgrade.

For those thinking that Raimi would be denied creative freedom: Raimi is arguably one of the legends of both the superhero and horror genre. Derrickson is in a lot of ways an up and coming voice within the genre and WB would be crazy of not nabbing him for their more supernatural superhero projects, but Raimi’s brand alone will guarantee that he gets to make the film he wants to make. Raimi is coming with the ball rolling, but he is one hell of an excellent addition to Marvel Studios staple of directors.

GIven how long Derrickson has been making movies, he should be a long way beyond up and coming at this point.

Sorry,he made a couple of entertaining horror movies, but don't consider him to be one of top people in the genre.

Drag Me to Hell says hi.

This, It's a really good Horror movie.

I was not exactly thrilled with OZ though.

But Raimi does needs a big popular success at this point;he needs Marvel as much as Marvel needs him.

When it comes to introducing Clea into the MCU, I think I would prefer it more if they didn’t make her a love interest.

Ok, "Female  lead" might be a better choice.

Still, Clea, unless they really mess it up, is going to be a lot more interesting then the McAdams doctor in the last film.

Though, I repeat the problem was not McAdams, but the script.  She is a good actress, she just was not given good material here.

Nobody blames McAdams. They just feel sorry for her. We’ll miss McAdams, not her character.

I mean we already have a massively better female lead in Wanda.

Ugh I would love for a Spider-Man (2002) vibe with Raimi on board.

Willem Dafoe for the villain please.

I like Dafoe, but just can't see him as any Villian in the Dr.Strange universe, certainly not Nightmare , who seems (along with Mordo) to be the big bad in this film.
