Yeah, I hope Zhang Yimou has still got it but not feeling good about it currently. Not to mention Legendary considered it a 'problem' movie, perhaps more for budget.

Yimou's colour visual signatures are not that apparent here, that trailer didn't seem to even mention Hero and House of Flying daggers...

Western actors, ancient China, Monsters.... That's an odd mix, critics and moviegoers will be prejudiced against it, critically this might be WarCraft all over again, so will its box office performance.

It'd be quite amazing if that happens, but I think the Chinese market, while not nearing saturation yet, is definitely  slowing down in growth.

The Mermaid wasn't even coming close to 600M, I doubt The Great Wall will get there, I think 350M is probably more realistic.
