The Matrix (1999)

Recommended Posts

Internet folks preferred this over EPISODE 1 by a mile. Showed with opening for the sequels.

R Rated MATRIX 2 opened to $134m 4 day vs. EPISODE 2's $110m with a PG3 rating.

Selected by National Film Registry and made a ton of money. Pretty rare club to be in, too bad the sequels were so meh.

The Matrix is definetely in my all time top 10.

A rare movie. Incredible action and at the same time some very deep messages.

It is still relevant even today and talked quite a lot. I have re watched it a handful of times, never getting old.

Too bad the sequels were a step down from the first one.

Absolutely love this film. Aside from some outdated CGI it still holds up.

How many movies have religious, philosophical, socio-economic, political, and subversive social commentary all at once?

Not many.

The movie can be appreciated on so many levels, it's pretty incredible.

Saw this again on Netflix after a long time. Its so tight that sequels could not be. Sad that sequels always have to be "bigger". This is easily one of the best movies of all time and probably the best action movie ever.

A+++

I was wandering around Sydney a few weeks ago working out locations by streaming it on my phone. I was at a particular location I already knew but then realised that the following scene was in exactly the same spot but from a different angle. It’s when Trinity comes out of the manhole with Neo as Morpheus was being captured. The following scene with Cipher on the phone is the same spot. Clarke St just to the south of Hyde Park.
