Its impressive no doubt but so far this year I like both Jackman and Kaluuya better. Maybe Montgomery too

Daniel Day Lewis in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie, Gary Oldman in a Churchill biopic, Denzel Washington, etc... It is a bit soon to say that a movie should get nods let alone wins (outside all time good type of stuff) it is not even june with most movies yet to be released. They won't touch McAvoy's performance this year.
WrathOfHan
As big of a McAvoy stan as I am, it's way too soon to say nobody will top him.
Mockingjay Raphael
If we lived in a fair world, James would be already locked for a nomination, and maybe even a win. But since we're in the real world, he's probably going to be pushed back by actors acting in a more "respectable" genre aka Drama, even if they're nothing special or memorable at all.
Ethan Hunt
Man J-Mac is gettting a bit too much credit. It's a fun performance but nothing more
Mockingjay Raphael
It's not just a "fun performance", you say this because of the type of movie that Split is. James incorporated all the nuances of Kevin, he managed to differentiate one character from another through looks, he did one of the most expressive character constructions I've ever seen. A truly exemplar of tour de force.
The Futurist
Mathew Vaughn/Bryan Singer casting X-Men First Class : The Fass, The Jlaw, The McAvoy Not bad, not bad at all.

Poseidon
While "The Witch" didn't look appealing to the General Audience, this one looks like a straight up Horrorthriller, that could bring typical Horror Crowds to the movies.
marveldcfox
This will surprise everyone. 20+ OW and 80+ domestic. Stealing the thunder from mummy. Back to the drawing board for universal.
baumer
I would be shocked if this opened to 20 million. To me it looks more like a 12/40 kind of movie.
somebody85
Opens up with a 100% on RT (only 7 reviews) with comparisons to Carpenter. I refuse to watch a trailer for this (much like Ex Machina, It Follows, etc.) but if reviews stay this high, I'm totally there next weekend.
Valonqar
This is the next big horror. Also, McAvoy for the win. Edited May 31, 2017 by Valonqar

From the consensus's this might be a little too art house for the GA. I won't read any full reviews (or watch them) but it sounds like this doesn't hold the audiences hand much like another recent film that I liked a lot....Personal Shopper (also had horror elements). Excited for it.
norbar
Guys this is a great film and a24 is a great distributor but it's an arthouse product set in a horror world. If this does The Witch numbers it would be a huge success. I still really cheer for it though. Won't beat Mummy and won't make 80m. That's for sure. The buzz won't be that strong.
