Weekend Estimates: Lego Batman 55.6M, 50 Shades 46.7M, John Wick 2 30M

Then again, WB has surprised us when it comes to weekend numbers before though.  Remember the 75M weekend for FB and everyone doubting it would even hit 200M?

There's still a chance, albeit a decreased one, of it hitting 200M.  It's gonna need really solid holds though.  Maybe grosses were slightly hindered by Winter Storm Orson hitting New England?

FB had the holidays to boost late legs.

LB will end up closer to 150m than 200.

Well Presidents Day weekend is next weekend, where the first Lego Movie dropped only 27.8% when comparing 3-days and only 9.5% when comparing 4 days, so it'll definitely get a boost from that.

But seriously @ the last prediction?  If it manages a 3.5x multi, which I'm expecting, it'll hit 189M with an expected weekend sum of 54M.  The film has mainly positive reception and shows no signs of poor audience reception, unlike the newest Spongebob which, despite strong critical reactions, had poor audience reception mainly due to misleading marketing.

It doesn't have anywhere near the groundswell of enthusiasm or excitement as LEGO MOVIE. After next week, it'll start losing audiences (not completely, but steadily) to ROCK DOG, BATB, and POWER RANGERS.

Rock Dog feels like it's being pretty much dumped, though, so I don't think that'll hurt too much.

Rock Dog?

By the time BATB and Power Rangers comes around, it'll have completed 95% of its run anyway.

Sub 170 is possible, but I think it'll make it past there.

Oh, I need to comment on how fucking stupid that Latin Lover movie Lionsgate is releasing looks. Jesus fucking Christ, I haven't cringed that hard in theaters since......well, I've cringed a bit recently. Still, that movie looks fucking atrocious. I also didn't get any blockbuster trailers; I got LL, Belko Experiment, All Eyez on Me, The Wall, and some indie movie with Shirely MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried that I never even heard of before.
