I'll say that I like New Mutants' cast, director and horror'esque premise so far. As a matter of fact, I looooove the direction that the X-verse has been taking since Deadpool (Apocalypse notwithstanding). I believe both Fant4stic failing enormously to build up a Fox Cinematic Universe and Deadpool's success helped drive Fox to understand that creative freedom and doing fresh things that stand out from the superhero pack is the way to go, in a world where Disney and WB are the feuding behemoths w/their own Marvel and DC franchises.

I think that, w/a very reserved budget (somewhere in the 60's that Deadpool cost) and a good marketing campaign, NM could be a bankable hit for Fox. Though it is worth mentioning that Infinity War comes less than a month after NM, so I don't know about its legs.

Avengers 3/Han Solo/Deadpool 2/Incredibles 2/Jurassic World 2 are a strong enough quintet that I'd almost say a club could be started for those five films grossing more than SM3/Shrek 3/POTC3/TF1/HP5 adjusted.

2018 ($2.09 billion)

Han Solo: $175 million 4-day/$480 million DOM

Avengers - Infinity War: $195 million/$470 million DOM

Jurassic World 2: $165 million/$430 million DOM

The Incredibles 2: $125 million/$395 million DOM

Deadpool 2: $120 million/$315 million DOM

vs.

2007 ($2.04 billion)

SM3: $195 million/$430 million DOM

Shrek 3: $155 million/$415 million DOM

Transformers: $200 million 6-day/$410 million DOM

POTC 3: $180 million 4-day/$400 million DOM

Harry Potter 5: $180 million 5-day/$375 million DOM

Somewhere around 40-50M on OW.

Still thinking it'll drop at least 50% second weekend and either Meg/Scarface/Amusement Park will have a bigger OW.

^Those predictions are insanely higher especially for A Wrinkle in Time, Ready Player One, New Mutants and Rampage. Ready Player One I think at most will be $75-80m OW, NM $50-55m and Rampage probably $40-45m

They're predictions for a reason. Wrinkle if Disney puts good marketing and is family friendly it could happen. New Mutants if it appeals to both the YA crowd and CBM fan I can see it do good. Rampage seems fair in my opinion given San Andreas. RPO screams breakout.

Not the least because of its ridiculous title.

Or because it seems likely to follow animated sequels/spinoffs likes KFP2/Dragon 2/TLBM, and has some tough family competition from Grinch, Animated Spider-Man, and Poppins.
