Should we also expect a total breakdown like Excel had during the opening of Suicide Squad or the mild breakdown of Blankments if it happened?

Honestly I would go out quietly in total defeat. Should you expect it though? Of course not Avatar 2 will make $$$.

2018 will be the rebound year for animation at the box office. Incredibles 2 will do $500M, Grinch should do over $300M (maybe $400M with great reviews not the usual for Illumination), Animated Spider-Man should do around $200M-$300M, Wreck It Ralph 2 should do around $200M-$230M, same with Gigantic (don't get the $40M/$130M predictions), Scoob will do around the $150M but with Lego Movie reviews $200M wouldn't surprise me. Peter Rabbit, Amusement Park, Larrikins, Anubis, and Smallfoot will do around the $75M-$120M range.

I think one thing SCOOB has going for it is that WB is going to promoting it a lot because the year after is Scooby Doo's 50th anniversary so a new movie will be the start of what will likely be a bonanza year for the franchise. If I was WB, I might be tempted to move to 2019.

It'd be a very smart move on their part.

I imagine it's staying in 2018 but a successful Scooby Doo film would be a great start and will lead to other Hanna Barbera films

It'd be nice if this was a Lego Movie style hit. I do think the one film everyone is underpredicting is The Incredibles 2.

I doubt it'll Lego Movie numbers since it's being released in September or October. HT1 or 2 numbers would be more than satisfactory

Agreed but $200M wouldn't surprise me. Also what are your thoughts about Incredibles 2?

doing my list and I have Han Solo making less than Rogue one and deadpool 2 making more than the original.

Could you read my Alita posts and tell me if you've changed your mind! I think 120dom is far too low if you see the effort/money going into the film.

IMO Deadpool 2 won't be able to capture the zeitgeist of the original. It will do quite well, but I think some of the novelty factor (R-rated superhero movie with swears!) will have faded.

I see from your posts that there's a tremendous amount of talent behind Alita, I just think summer 2018 is too crowded for it to really break out. When marketing starts I could very well change my mind. I think it will do great business worldwide though ($500m+).
