First predictions:

Original

The Big Sick

Get Out

The Post

The Shape of Water

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Adapted

Blade Runner 2049

Call Me by Your Name

Darkest Hour

The Disaster Artist

Molly's Game

Adapted is really slim this year. Thinking CMBYN wins in a landslide there.

Focus is listing Darkest Hour as Original on their site; they're not going to move it into Adapted unless the Academy forces them to.

Swap Darkest Hour with The Snowman and those are my predictions.

I don't have any confidence in The Snowman being any good tbh, let alone in contention for any awards. Does anyone even knows it comes out in two weeks? Haven't seen a single TV spot for it.

With the Academy clearly not here for Netflix (and Mudbound because of it) and Last Flag Flying shaping up to be a nonstarter, I guess I'll give the last spot to Stronger. Movie's got the acclaim and is already seriously in the running for an acting nom.

I can see The Death of Stalin in adapted. Its acclaim so far is almost if not on par with In the Loop, and that got nominated. Also think Mudbound might overcome the Netflix thing due to just how weak the field is.

James Ivory should be getting that acceptance speech ready, anyway.

Is IFC releasing it this year?

Depends on if gets dated for this year. IFC Films still has it listed as a "recent acquisition" on their website.
