Ithil
Dafoe is sweeping this category thus far.
filmlover
The double nomination curse looks to extend to this year. I think it ends up looking like this now: Willam Dafoe, The Florida Project Armie Hammer, Call Me by Your Name Richard Jenkins, The Shape of Water Bob Odenkirk, The Post Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

filmlover
Christopher Plummer's work in All the Money in the World is crazy good, especially considering the circumstances. I have no idea no why he wasn't chosen from the beginning, he makes a lot more sense in the role than Spacey did.

filmlover
Final predictions: Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project Armie Hammer, Call Me by Your Name Richard Jenkins, The Shape of Water Christopher Plummer, All the Money in the World Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Can't see anyone else breaking in. There hasn't been a double nominee for a single film here in 26 years, and neither CMBYN or Three Billboards are strong enough Picture contenders (we don't have any of those this year tbh). No reason to believe that'll change this year either (and after seeing CMBYN, I'm not surprised Stuhlbarg has missed everywhere - very sweet performance, but he's not in it much and is in the background until his monologue near the end).
The Panda
Plummer missed a SAG nod but I think he gets in here. He seems like a safer bet than Stewart, a double nod or Carell (the three alternatives to Plummer) Edited January 5, 2018 by New Year New Panda

He could miss all these places and still end up with an Oscar nom (which I think he will).
