With a production budget between $232-$250M, we can declare it not a flop at 2x.  So, about $500M WW.  Now, I find that "not a flop" means good.  I mean, yes, it could be better, but that's the baseline, "okay, this is an okay number, don't fully panic".

So, we'll see if this movie gets there WW...it should, but the MCU is in a weird place right now, especially INT, so I'm not betting on anything...

THOR 4 grossed $760m on a $250m budget and it only went into profit from ancillary markets.

Oh my God it´s extremely rare for a movie to drop 18% after 100 reviews, especially with a 7.0 average, stop with this rotten score nonsense

And while MCU does have a story of audience reception agreeing with critics recently, there are examples of movies from them in their 70´s getting A´s on CinemaScore. This movie reviews isn´t simply a case of opinions being mostly mid, people are just divided, you just have to read the reviews [or look at how Metacritic is way higher than Thor and MOM despite the %], this can lead to a very different audience reception. So, predicting bad multiplier based on reviews alone is simply absurd.

Tbh audiences being divided is worse than them viewing it as mid (like MoM

I agreed, but we don´t know yet if this is something that will bother audiences overall, is really hard to tell.

With critics, the sample is small, is easy to find people having problems with it. With audiences, maybe only a tiny portion will care about it, let´s see [and hope for it, because if ended up being a big issue than it could do some damage].

And tbh i think the B+ for MOM have more to do with the movie not being NWH 2.0 than the darker tone

DS2 was a fun ride and had more style than most recent CBMs. It being hyped as NWH 2.0 with cameos and Wanda ending The Illuminati in one go hurt it more than they expected. A more tight script and around 10 minutes added to the run time would have helped for better reviews and reception.

At least this movie doesn't seem to have the same problems.

That's interesting. Another has said the reception in Italy was very strong too. European film critics seem to be liking this one.

I am not getting that 5/6 formula? Shouldn't it be 5/5? It's confusing me

less squirmish. Europe likes the kind of movies that is divisive in US. They don't like bland agreeable crap.

So movies need to make 3x the budget?

The real (studio) formula is 2.5x the budget though 2x the budget is the most used formula among boxoffice watchers.

It´s like giving a roll of a dice. No idea why, but very common in Norway to use that kind of scoresystem
