This has all the signs of a total trainwreck. I also think there will be a brief (but not serious) backlash over recasting a character that, while not originally black, is most famous for starring a black actor.

Are.......are people even aware there was one before Murphy? Hell, I didn't even know that the franchise was based on a book until much, much later, like college. To let that sink in, I was eight when the Eddie Murphy one came out.

I really doubt there will be any real levels of backlash on this one.  Maybe jokes.  But backlash? I doubt it.
