I was excited.

Though as one who doesn't watch a lot of period pieces like that, are there any where the problem isn't that one woman can't produce a heir?

That’s pretty much the root of all the “true story” medieval age drama.  That, and some pope stuff.

I thought it looks fun, idk what you guys are talking about

(whispers, it's about girls)

I'm in.  Looks fun!  Margot Robbie's make up is trashy and wild, and I'm here for it.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect it to look any different than it does. It seems to be what I expected anyway.

I was expecting something a bit more...dynamic.

Also, I usually love both Ronan and Robbie but something seems "off" about their performances here.

Expect Lead and Supporting noms, and Costume noms at least. Robbie's Elizabeth looks like quite a showy character (given who Elizabeth was that's not surprising) so she might get a lot of attention for it.

As far as the film goes I assume it will do respectable Winter period drama numbers, no world lit on fire or anything. It looks very accessible, unlike many of those Keira Knightley type period droll.

From what I've heard, this will probably be trashy melodramatic fun at best.

What happened during the short reign of Mary, Queen Of Scots was trashy melodrama that few writers would have created for fear of being laughed off stage.

That's got the potential to be really epic, if it's done well.

Also got the potential to be REALLY boring. Hoping for the former.

It also has the potential to be really bloody'there were several pretty gruesome murders, not to mention what happned to Mary in the end.....

because a lot of people here expect everything to be like a CBM, frankly.

So is The Favourite, but most everyone on here who's responded to its trailer is excited about it. I wonder why

FUn thing about "THe Favorite" is that it could be considered a sort of prequel to "Darkest Hours" since the main Female character is Winston Churchill's great great grandmother.

I just hope they mention that John Churchill, Sarah's husband,, was one of history's most brilliant generals. His victories were what eneabled Sarah to become sort of a power behind the throne.
