Gonna make more than your prediction I think, around 800-900k. Or if it survives Ramadhan month and the battle for screens, maybe it can actually touch 1 million, who knows. Sometimes they play local movies for weeks. Critical Eleven's 6-day opening was on trajectory very similar to recent film The Guys, hence my initial prediction. But indeed it showed some legs. The trouble ahead would be the number of screens, with all the Hollywood big guns lining up to occupy the limited number of screens. Maybe it will play on and on, but only on a limited number of screens. Speaking of Indonesian current number of screens ...... So, as of now: XXI has 913 screens, CGV 197 screens, Cinemaxx 119 screens, others 94 screens. Total gross in 2016 was about $290m. 1323 screens with a few more coming this year. XXI has been expanding steadily, CGV a bit more quickly, while Cinemaxx basically stalled (with respect to their lofty goal). In 2015: XXI 843 screens, CGV 139 screens, Cinemaxx 102 screens. Growth from 2015: XXI 8.4%, CGV 41.7%, Cinemaxx 8.8%. Total gross in 2016 was about $250m. XXI continues at a steady pace. CGV has quite a few openings planned, such as their collaboration with Transmart/Carrefour. Cinemaxx .... I don't know how the hell they will achieve their "lead the market with 2000 screens" mission statement. Now, let's wait for Wanda to magically open 1000 screens in Indonesia There's room for 5000, they say
catlover
Yeah, I remember Cinemaxx were targeting 1000 screens in 5 years and 2000 screens in 10 years. And that was like 3 years ago. 2 years left and not even 200 screens.
tong kosong
Wow, a dedicated thread for Indonesia Box Office. Nice to see fellow Indonesians in this forum. I got my tickets for Pirates 5 on Wednesday. Presales beginning to pick up, for example here is the booking screen for an IMAX screening. (note: IMAX ticket price IDR60k = $4.5) Do you live in Kelapa Gading ? I live in Gading and I also bought my Pirates 5 ticket for tonight, but for normal theaters though.

But I like to use this particular screen as an indicator of a good opening weekend for a tentpole, being a geek-friendly venue. My screening of SWTFA was so much fun there, lightsaber-wielding crowd and all. Here is the booking screen now, about 2.5 hours before the show. Nearly packed, just as I thought. Claudio
Glad that finally my country has its own thread [emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]. Congrats for your thread , Newbie!!!Anyway let's talk about the movie performance:Based on a data by CGV cinema app almost all showings for Pirates 5 between 5-8 PM ( time when people get home from work ) are either sold out or 80-90%. Matinees not so busy cause today is a work day.. But good enough with 40-50% full capacity. Looks like this does well here considering it was opened on the midweek. Note : the data is just for CGV cinema chain and for today , May 24th

Ah my friend, brother/sister ...... this trailer nearly brought me to tears. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0x6fmVXJy4 No release date set for Indonesia yet, but given the history of Besson's works before this, I'm sure it will screen here. newbie BO buff
Today the first ScreenX opens in Indonesia. sample image from Train of Busan I'm going to try this out for Wonder Woman, hope it's not too packed. And hopefully also not too distracting like 4DX. My second viewing of BVS was on 4DX, it was disappointing.

But if it has too many fast movements like BvS, it will be very distracting. Depends on the movie.

newbie BO buff
My family and I came out of the Pirates 5 screening on Wednesday 24 May night, around 11pm. As usual when we felt good about a movie, we were happily discussing it. My kids especially loved it. They were too young to witness the first four installments, and now demand the whole set on Blu-Ray. I put on the "He's a Pirate" theme through the car's Spotify to make it even merrier. Traffic was bad, we thought it was the usual case of people getting out of the mall after the final show. Turned out, it was a lot worse than usual. As the car went into a standstill, I quickly looked at my iPad, and there it was. Two bombs just exploded, less than one kilometer away from our location. Two victims were known to be dead at that time (later verified to be 5, including the two suicide bombers). We went dead quiet in our car, as I asked my family for a moment of silence and prayers for the departed. The next day traffic was a bit quiet, the malls were also just a tad quieter, understandably. But today, things seem to be normal again, as Jakartans put on the #WeAreNotAfraid and #PrayForJakarta hashtags. Stay safe, world.
catlover
Yeah I was about to drop off my friend at a busway station, so she could take the bus that goes through Kampung Melayu when we heard the news about the bomb. She ended up taking the bus with a different route. It was terrible and scary, but I think it's a good thing that things went back to normal so fast. I feel that even in the following day people were already back to their usual routine. I went to the mall yesterday and then to the supermarket, both were packed with people. And the traffic was definitely not quiet. Caught in an awful traffic jam on my way to that mall. So a lot of people still went out even though there was a terrorist attack just the night before. We are indeed not afraid.

newbie BO buff
The near-sold-out booking screens translated well to opening weekend numbers for Pirates 5 in Indonesia. As per BOM, its loot was $4m, roughly 1.5m admissions. Very impressively, in one weekend Salazar's Revenge (aka Dead Men Tell No Tales) have sunk the lifetime grosses of Strangers Tides ($1.3m), World's End ($2.1m), and Black Pearl ($1.5m). This opening is higher than GOTG2 ($3.4m), Unfortunately time is very short for Jack Sparrow, because Wednesday 31 May arrives Diana of Themyscira, Daughter of Hyppolita, Queen of the Amazons. And since she has declared that in the name of all that is good, Ares' wrath upon this world is over ....... so will be Jack Sparrow's box office might.
newbie BO buff
And in holdover realms, King Arthur has accumulated $3m, meaning it has successfully ruled over 1m admissions as I predicted. No numbers reported for Alien Covenant but looks like it collapsed massively just like everywhere else.

newbie BO buff
Admission numbers for Indonesian movies as of 28 May 2017: Multiverse: The 13th Step - 5.110 Parakang: Manusia Jadi-jadian - 53.694 Ziarah - 24.354 Critical Eleven - 812.222 Selebgram - 103.596 Critical Eleven benefited from lack of local competition and went past 800k admissions, but I still doubt it will go much further.
