A 60M budget film is a flop with sub-150M DOM? It'll hit at least 100M DOM and ~150M OS, why the hell would that be a flop? DISAPPOINTMENT is not the same as flop.

It's a $20m budget film, which makes that statement even dumber

Lol someone's scared this will flop.

Anything under 150m DOM will be a flop.

How ignorant can you get? At least TRY to educate yourself on the subject matter of this forum you participate in.

Im allergic to people on here that dont know what a true FLOP is.

Mars needs Moms is a flop. Mortal Engines is a flop. John Carter is a flop.

Why? Because all those films had very high budgets and grossed way less than they needed to break-even at the global box office.

Lets look at Glass. It has a reported 20M budget. It probably needs only 60-80M worldwide before it starts to make money (dont forget the marketing costs, which we dont know most of the time).

Its tracking to make a similar amount of money on its opening 4-day weekend domestic alone.

So when someone says that Glass is a FLOP when it makes under 150 DOM - im sorry, my brain feels insulted.

Could be around $100m and yet the film will be in no problem and most probably it is much less than that.

Domestically horror marketing avg is $35-45m

WW Deadline estimates the P&A for Get Out was $77m

(Around $70m seems to be the WW avg)

They also estimated participation points for Get Out at $20m (first time director/non  star heavy cast).  They should be far larger on this with Shyamalan (especially), SLJ, Willis and McAvoy.  I wouldn't be surprised if like Nolan on Interstellar, Shyamalan made a bigger profit than the studio.  Even so the studio should make a nice profit.

Split was a giant success and didn't made 140M.

Even if we pass how ridiculous that statement is considering the movie type of production, Shyamalan is not has domestic heavy than other small horror affair either. 145m DBO could mean 300M at the box office, not bad for a small movie.

I would imagine that the type of movie for which the make money for who ? change a lot from players to players but, still at that price tag I disagree that with the: massive balls right there for investing in it, it had the chance to be able to do so, outside an electricity failure what are the chance this movie does not reach a nice target for it's budget Saturday of is opening weekend ? Even if it is the worst movie ever ?

Worldwide releasing cost is probably 75-110m on something like this.

considering most were expecting a 200m gross, anything under split numbers will be a dissapointment. of course it wont be a FINANCIAL flop tho.

by the way, people always bring up the movie budget, but what about marketing? every movie i've gone to in christmas (RBTI, Aquaman and BR) had its trailer on them

Basing expectations on the wildest predictions doesn't make it valid.
