Not to send @Blankments into a rage but the audiences who go to Madea movies like them. In their mind they are good comedies.

I mean not to jump in randomly, but even though I hate Madea, I saw Instructions Not Included which had the same guy who's in Latin Lover and really enjoyed it.

I'd give Latin Lover a shot if I still had my MoviePass tbh

Not uncommon for these films to have ridiculous Sunday holds. Instructions not included comes to mind, although that was also benefited by a holiday

Movie going is very popular after attending Mass in the Hispanic community.  For a movie with a reported 89% Hispanic attendance it's the movie version of Souls to Polls.

Lol and Life of Pi, a movie that has rotting animal corpses and implications of traumatic canibalism and, was PG.

Apparently it's more family friendly than La La Land.

Taken (PG-13) - features a scene where a man is electrocuted multiple times before being killed.

La La Land (PG-13) - "fuck" is said once.

Apparently, Taken and La La Land are on the same level of maturity.

BATB 500M yeah or baaaah?

I predict 493M total.

Assuming similar holds to past few weeks, it has about $15 million left just from remaining weekends. That brings it to around $495 million. Remaining weekday grosses will probably bring it over $500 million or close enough for Disney to push over the mark. We don't know how it will drop after losing theaters, so this is a best case scenario.

Going in Style has made 62M WW so far on a 25M budget, will most likely make over 75M WW before the end. Will end up being a big win for WB, especially since this is the kind of movie which will play on Sunday afternoon cable forever.

'I will hunt you down, find you and kill you' when said to your daughter's kidnapper is PG-13 but a few 'Fuck you's even if said to that same kidnapper would have gotten R.

Sad 'I will kill you' is more acceptable than 'Fuck' (even when said to the same bad person).

Sull Island dom and China still looking neck and neck. China final gross is around 168.6.

    Kong: Skull Island   WB   $1,121,735   -24.8%   933   -270   $1,202   $165,487,121

I think kong's domestic number will still outgross china's, there is still a room for $2.5m to come.....if WB do some final push expansion, it'll even better

apart from the routine dollar bump i don't see any other push. unless the film has grossed huge or is near a milestone, studios don't give a push.

(disney usually gives a push to it's animations for some reason. brave, ts3, monsters uni, and others had a push.)

Animation does really well for discount theaters - if not money then in concessions - so they typically get a couple of expansions at least.  LEGO's run seemed to last forever.

I see we're jumping right over the coerced sex slave trade premise and related scenes in discussing the PG13 rating.
