I’m starting to get slightly more and more optimistic on Panther OS potential. 

 

MCU has built for itself a real loyal fanbase and very viable goodwill from audience worldwide over the years. I think BP can really benefit from that goodwill.

445m is quite a lot (it is more than Wonder Woman), 110m in China, 41m in SK market pushed by Cumberbatch and the Asian setting.

 

Dr Strange made more intl than Guardian of the Galaxy & Thor 2, almost made as much as Winter Soldier.

BP would need an astounding 455 dom even with SMH's great 545+ OS to get to 1b. So seems too far to talk about right now.

Thinking 375-425 dom + 425-475 os = 800-900 ww

I get the hype here, but I find a bit unrealistic to talk about the billion. 400-450 OS could be a good target (there are some people in Chinese thread say that the China release date is bad for this). Maybe 750-800 WW, what would mean to be on par to the biggest SH first films like SM1, Wonder Woman or Deadpool.

It actually has quite extensive preview screenings from 6pm on Wednesday the 14th in Australia.

But we have UK members swore up and down in the Black Panther main thread that there’s absolutely no buzz to be felt in the UK

They must be living on another planet because I've heard a lot of people taking about it. Maybe it's because I live in London where BP will almost certainly over perform compared to the rest of the country which is understandable.

This week is half term holiday so most schools are off, and BP opens on Tuesday so it should also get a VD boost even though it's not exactly a romcom. So it basically has a 6 day opening. Presales looks pretty strong from what I've seen so I wouldn't be surprised with an opening in the mid teens, (or $18m+) including previews.

How do we know it’s not a romcom? Personally, I’m expecting the greatest love story ever told.
