I must note that "opening weekend" is defined as the amount a film earned up to its first Sunday in each country. The massive differences near the top of the chart are due mainly to the fact that each film opened on a different day of the week in China.

IW, FF8, HP7-P2, TFA, CA-CW: Friday

AoU: Tuesday

FF7: Sunday

IM3: Wednesday

etc.

By Thursday, IW will become the highest-grossing Disney film overseas – surpassing The Force Awakens ($1,131.6M)

By Sunday or early next week, IW will have achieved the second-highest initial OS run ever, beating Titanic's $1,242.4M. However, including its 3D re-release, Titanic's gross is $1,528.1M, which is far from IW's reach, so it will settle for third place all time.

It is guaranteed to reach 4th place domestically and WW. It may also achieve 3rd place domestically and WW, but that is less likely the way things are looking at the moment.

Disagree with you the only films for which that is of any relevance are AoU and FF7 as those had extrem opening Days (Tuesday so six Day opening Weekend and Sunday so one day Opening Weekend. #1,#2,#4,#5 opened all on Friday)

I don't think we disagree. We are just saying the same thing in different ways.

About 7 million Os-Ch on Wednesday for a -7.89% drop fro Tuesday which is very good.

Don't you think it's dropping a little too quickly? Last weekend was 81M but i think only 70 or so was from Fri-Sun. With the rate it's dropping now, it may miss 1B OS-China

What ? If nothing else all signs point to comfortably over 1 billion-China. It’s still doing 70-80% over the u.s in the dailies, with deadpool2 opening in many os markets, of course it wouldn’t keep up the frantic pace of the first two weeks, that almost never happens for any big blockbuster film.  It’s going to be at 920 -930 million after the weekend, how can it miss one billion ?

Should get roughly 30M for the Mon-Thu frame.

Not sure how hard DP2 will hit it over the weekend, but I think it’s far enough into its run that drops will start to stabilize. 35M+ Fri-Sun IMO.
