Rudolf
Japan is the wildcard. THG could completely bomb there, or gross anything up to 30M. Japan is also a very leggy market, and THG seems to have good WOM everywhere - possibilities are endless.Battle Royale made $25m in Japan. Why should they prefer a similar movie made in USA? RTX
Because it's not a gorefest, therefore it has much bigger potential audience.
kayumanggi
This needs a title change.

iceroll
UPDATE: Foreign: $228,500,000 38.0%
Olive
In its sixth weekend in release, The Hunger Games earned an estimated $7.4 million overseas. That brings its foreign total to $228.5 million, and its worldwide (domestic plus foreign) total past the $600 million mark. Fake
Close to 50% drop in the face of The Avengers. Held well. With Italy, it should cross 250M.Now... is it releasing in Japan?
RTX
It was pretty stupid, releasing it in Spain one week before the Avengers. Edited April 29, 2012 by RTX

kayumanggi
Is 275 M possible? That's huge for such not-so-well-known material overseas. Bigger than the first TWILIGHT.
RTX
The film has truly outstanding legs. CF will have a massive opening.
kayumanggi
I see at least 400 M for CF.
Fake
400-450 is my predict as well.
kayumanggi
800 M - 900 M worldwide is possible for CF. Yes I expect the domestic take to increase.
RTX
This is not Twilight, people. 400M is too little for it.I'm thinking 500-600M depending on the quality of the film.

Not much reason for it to increase that much.
Fake
THG didn't do well in most markets in Asia.... the sequel will continue to not do well.....And admissions are going down in Europe, just like in NA. So there will be a limit to how much it can explode there.
Heretic
400m is likely, but 500m+ would be a stretch.CF will do over $50m for sure in the UK, and Australia should also put up $40m+. $100m could come from the two markets alone.
kayumanggi
I think you guys are underestimating the WOM THG has created for CF.
Cedarpoint1111
I can see 500m OS for CF. By the time it gets released, millions of books will be sold around the world. Add the fact that THG was fantastic and Catching Fire will be just as great. The only thing that might hurt it is the increased competition from Skyfall and Thor.
