===============

Because of the disparity of how soon tickets went on sale, along with the fact that I don't have information on the first couple of days for DP2 and the first week plus for BP, these comps will be a little off.  Still, they'll normalize soon enough.  Not going to include detailed day-by-day comps for a while until we get closer to the release windows for all the films.

As I said in the main FB2 thread, it'll be interesting to see how quickly sales for Thursday will pick up as well as whether or not the Tuesday shows will fill out at the lower-tier theaters in town.

Why do I get the feeling that you guys would say Insidious: The Last Key numbers would be bad for Halloween?

With the way theaters are booking it, I'd say the chances of it doing as much as IT are higher than it opening to $29M.

While Universal/Miramax/Blumhouse’s Halloween will soak up around $70M worth of business this weekend, Venom and A Star Is Born will continue to fight for second with around $18M-$20M. “A Star Is Born will continue to ease -30% every weekend in its run,” praised one rival studio executive about the pic’s longevity.

Has a record ever been broken twice in a month?

Back in 1989, the opening weekend record was broken three times in three weeks.  Last Crusade, Ghostbusters II and then Batman demolished it.

Swamped with school but I am popping in to say that I think $100M OW is on the cards for Halloween.

*But I am wrong more times than I am right so take my opinion with a grain of salt*

Looking at Friday numbers at my theater, and the 7:30 Halloween show only has three non-handicapped seats left in a 126-seated theater. The 10:30 show only has 7 non-handicapped seats remaining. Insanity.

My theater must feel real stupid for only giving Halloween one screen this weekend.

It's a shame that Halloween itself is not falling on a weekend this year because imagine how massive Halloween (the movie) opening weekend would have been with that backing it. Of course it is going to be massive regardless lol

I feel like you tell us your theater makes stupid decisions often. :thinking: Maybe you should apply to become a manager there.

Theoretically the next Halloween movie could come out in 2020, when Halloween falls on a Saturday :thinking:
