The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

If Halloween truly opens over $80M, which given the presales is looking increasingly likely, there's no doubt horror is the second biggest genre currently after superhero films.

I think the statement " horror is the most successful genre after CBM" is more right and suitable.

If Hollywood can resolve merchadise problem with horrors- it's gonna be not ggold but PLATINUM ERA for genre.

Is Halloween still not getting any premium screens in America? (If So those numbers are extra wild)

It’s getting them here in the U.K. no IMAX, but it’s going to the SuperScreens, can’t wait for tomorrow night.

It’s playing in Dolby and prime at amc’s in Los Angeles. I’m not sure if that’s equivalent to super screens in the uk or not because i have no idea what that is lol.

Imax doesn't seem to be that popular in the UK.

The new XPlus cinemas are growing rapidly though.

how does ASIB trend 3x that of Venom? Maybe there's not a huge correlation with the bo but still am surprised.

Because, you know, MT always  has more older audience + families. Remember how Christopher Robin was №1 on weekdays during first month but in real chart movie always was under 1st place.

It's getting PLF but not IMAX (First Man has those screens until Bohemian Rhapsody in two weeks).

SuperScreen are 22 metre screens with Dolby sound, amazing.

IMAX is very popular here, we have lots of the superscreens too though. VIP showings do really well too, for certain films.

Hi, I'm new here and honestly I do not understand the analyzes very well, for now ...
I just wanted to know, are advance sales of fantastic beasts tickets bad? the blockbusters usually make those numbers in pre sales 30 days before the debut?

Halloween is matching up to opening to the same #s as Venom and Star is Born

I'll go with a very nice 69m opening weekend for Halloween. Much better than my original expectations, though I guess lower than alot of expectations. It just now pulling ahead of Venom despite a much lower crossover/kiddie audience to help build a weekend IM. Can definitely match the 10m Thursday of Venom, though.

I don't have any direct comparisons for it so I may not be the best person to answer this but it looks like Fantastic Beasts 2 is selling very well in presales at least from what I can tell.

I would assume an opening anywhere between $80M-$100M is likely at this point in time.
