Remember Fantastic Beasts had those Fantastic Fandom screenings. I'll probably look into how much they impacted sales yesterday, but I'm too tired and lazy to look at it right now.

1662 Tuesday tickets were for Tuesday screenings.

They're very much the definition of "walk-up movies." I wouldn't read much into their presales.

Actually wait - Widows is barely behind First Man, and that was a pre-sale driven movie because of IMAX

Still pretty weak for Instant Family compared to other comedies tho

I think that Widows will open better than IF. That one at least has arthouse/awards-caring crowd. What does IF have? It targets family movies and market is crowded with family stuff.

It looks like FB2 is following Halloween in presales, which would make for a good OW considering the mixed/decent reviews. It is also close to ASiB and JW:FK so I can quite confidently predict an opening between $42M and $148M.:sparta:

More seriously, akvalley started his tracking so that others could use all these numbers to build a "predictive data model", I wonder if anything has come of that yet.

Instant Family is actually getting decent reviews so far. We can probably thank Rose Byrne and Octavia Spencer.

70m is a pipe dream.

60m might be a longshot at this point.

What? Not even 60M? What are the data to sustain that?

For me, all signs point to around 70M opening. Presales are solid. Trailer views are solid. Marketing last push is strong.

HP movies are so consistent. Awareness between Potter fans is solid. Stronger links to the original HP saga.

Also, the market this year is healthy.

Based on Widows' UK opening, the movie is on par to open to first man's opening, which will be somewhat disappointing, given great review, and heist film has been absent for quite some while

Widows never seemed to me like a widely-appealing movie. Honestly thought it was going limited for the longest time.

I thought a few months ago it was gonna perform similarly to The Town but that movie had a much better hook and marketing campaign than this ended up having. Should still be good for a $15M/$50-60M type of run, which is solid for a midrange adult-targeted title.
