For what it's worth, here's the tracking for Kong and Godzilla the week of release:

Godzilla: $70M https://deadline.com/2014/05/box-office-godzilla-crushes-it-90m-732099/

Kong: $45-50M https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-kong-roars-but-will-be-loud-985436

If it rises like G-2014, 70+ if it rises like Kong then 60-65. Both numbers would be good.

Detective Pikachu Greater Sacramento Area Premiere Night Seat Report:

PREMIERE NIGHT (MID-DAY UPDATE) [12:05pm - 12:40pm]

Sellouts

Showings

Seats left

Total Seats

Perct Sold

TOTALS

0

112

7619

10268*

25.80%

* NOTE:  One showing was undercounted by 10 available seats.  This has now been fixed.

Total Seats Sold Since Last Night:       392

I don't have any good comps like Incredibles 2, so these will have to do.  Use with caution:

.4634x as many tickets sold as Fallen Kingdom mid-day of premiere.

.5466x as many tickets sold as Crimes of Grindelwald mid-day of premiere.

.6492x as many tickets sold as Ant-Man and the Wasp mid-day of premiere.

.6826x as many tickers sold as Venom mid-day of premiere.

NOTE: If a theater locally that is now selling tickets for reserved seating was selling them for the above movies, but as non-reserved seating for that movie, it is not counted toward the ratio of 'as many tickets sold' for the movie in question.  If a theater is brand new to the region and wasn't yet open for one of the above movies, however, it will be counted toward the ratio.  It will also be counted toward the ratio if it was playing in a different number of theaters locally.

T-0 Mid-day (all sold in that half day):

JW2         761 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/147 showings |  8762/13715 seats left  | 36.11% sold]

AM2        897 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/112 showings |  7361/10896 seats left  | 32.44% sold]

Pika (JW)  327 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/112 showings |  6112/8407 seats left    | 27.30% sold]

---

Venom    725 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/127 showings |   9748/13229 seats left | 26.31% sold]

FB2         570 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/134 showings | 11494/15841 seats left | 27.44% sold]

Pika (FBj) 346 tickets sold  [0 sellouts/112 showings |  7028/9404 seats left    | 25.27% sold]

Pika (JW) is the number of tickets sold at the same theaters I had tracking info for Fallen Kingdom and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Pika (FB) is the number of tickets sold at the same theaters I had tracking info for Crimes of Grindelwald and Venom

I'll be honest with y'all.  I can't say I'm that impressed with the mid-day sales locally right now.  We'll see how it goes at final report but it does seem to be pretty flat-ish for a film that was supposed to be walk-up based.

Not saying it's gonna collapse.  But it sure isn't taking off locally.  Or, more accurately, it's doing much better at some theaters than others.  And that's really driving down the overall numbers.

I was expecting a bigger increase from my theater as well tbh. A 21 ticket increase certainly isn't bad but it's not some insane number.

Pika sold 51/90 and 39/175 for my 2 local's 4pm shows, so it's not a total loss having a 4pm...if every booked theater sells 15 tickets at 4pm shows, that raises Thursday preview numbers by $600K or so...and I'm assuming they did do better than 15 tickets each...

Also man WB needs to stop with the 4 PM shows on Thursday. DP's in total only got to 15 tickets.

It's sold almost 70 seats for the 4:00 show in the biggest non-PLF auditorium here.

Guess it's really case by case then. Shazam's 4 PM show didn't sell well back in April here either.

Also this is just a hot location to see a movie in general (one of the biggest in the state in all likelihood). The numbers it's posting today and tomorrow are looking to be in line with how Shazam! did when it opened.

I'm not picking on you here, as WOM could be good.  But that would more show up during the weekend than opening night, IMO.
