Thanks.  Much appreciated. :)

I DID have a gif prepared in case it was in the low 6s (or even high 5s! :o).

Just have to wait 'till I get another FB2 sized miss before y'all get to see it though. ;)

Ep IX? :sparta:

Final count of today, just Thursdays-

Godzilla: KoTM-164 (+5), 8 screenings (3 IMAX, 3 3D, 3 Regular) Final week

Dark Phoenix-73 (+1), 6 screenings (1 IMAX, 2 3D, 2 Regular+Fan Screening)

Weak day overall tbh. Would be lying if I said I didn't want more from KOTM today but ah well. I guess those 19 tickets last night were a big boost and it had to taper off today. Hoping it can pick up tomorrow. Would be nice of WB to release that embargo In total today Godzilla sold 5 tickets and Phoenix sold 1.

First count of today, just Thursdays-

Godzilla: KoTM-169 (+5), 8 screenings (3 IMAX, 3 3D, 3 Regular) Final week

Dark Phoenix-73, 6 screenings (1 IMAX, 2 3D, 2 Regular+Fan Screening)

I decided not to dignify such obvious trolling with a reaction. j1aUlyv.gif

So beneath my notice that titanic2187 @MrPink isn't even getting an apoc or not cool reaction out of me for that post. j1aUlyv.gif

Nice call - as always - @Porthos!

This could just top $80M for the 3-day and kill my club. It gets to $80.16M using the Pirates 5 three day multi.

Funny you mention your club, as I just made a post in there before I saw your post.

Luckily for you, Disney doesn't seem to be in the fudge game more meaningless numbers like a 80m 3day.  If this was Paramount or WB, you might be in more trouble. ;)

Its interesting. Aladdin may or may not make 100 over 4 day according to tracking but lion king 3 day could have 200 million.

I have to wonder many people for opening weekend made their decision on Smiths first impression as blue genie ( never get 2nd chance to make a first impression)

I was trying to post:

"that deserves a @Nova Gif but the internet's being so slow at the library, it wouldn't load."

:hahaha:

Also -- BFF isn't going to be around this weekend.  No parking lot report from the Drive-In.  "We're just gonna have to spill the tea about Aladdin next weekend," she texted.

There's just been a lot of bad to mixed buzz surrounding Aladdin, even outside of the first impression of Will Smith as the Genie.  I point back to the reaction from CinemaCon last year as the point where the film's fortune started to turn.  The first reactions to Will Smith just solidified the doubts.

On the other hand, TLK has been getting stellar buzz from almost the exact same point in time. And when its first teaser trailer came out, it exploded*. So one film went in one direction, the other film the other direction.

* Though the reaction to the second trailer wasn't nearly as good, which is causing me to slightly pump the brakes on some of the super sky high expectations out there (personally thinking 525-550 DOM right now, but I will be more than willing to raise that when the data starts to roll in).

That "+"...flashbacks to the Endgame 270-300+ range. Looks about right to me, though.

Endgame finished with 357, so 257 confirmed for TLK :ohmygod:

Imagine that... The most anticipated movie of 2018, and by far the biggest, is going to be matched in NA by a pack of lions

Not that hard to imagine given the previous box office success (and the even more absurd home market run) of that pack of lions.

That pack of lions formed the crown jewel of the Disney renaissance era. Nostalgia is arguably the most potent force at the box office

nowadays. The more evenly spread four quadrant appeal + nostalgia even give this pack of lions some advantages over the (previous) MCU juggernaut

Yes its definitely been a tale of 2 stories....just intriguing how 2 disney properties can have two opposite reactions two well recieved og films.

Perhaps people are more intrigued by "realistic" looking animals. It certainly got peoples attention as you said in trailers. I can see it doing 1b ww total and agree 500 to 600 maybe domestic.

Better trailer less horrible director and much bigger to begin with. Not a shock.
