The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

Gonna make a general observation about 2020.

There has been a very vocal segment of this board that has been bemoaning the fact that all of the big huge films lately are franchise films to one degree or another, including sequels, and damn near pleading for 'original films'. They point out, with more than some justification I think, that these franchise films/sequels drown out new voices and make it hard for new properties to get a share of the spotlight.  Only horror and music bio-pics have seem to be able to cut through the noise.

Well they might very well get their wish in 2020 with some of the heavy hitters on the sidelines or at least not as dominating as they have been the last few years.

As might be inferred from my post, I do think they have something of a point.  So instead of looking at 2020 as it being 'weak', maybe it can be seen as an opportunity for new properties to shine and gain a foothold.

It's both. 2020 will be very bad nominally but much better for unique smaller films. No biggie 2021 will be great.

So you can't access is either ?

I can't access it either. I can only see the akvalley past 24h numbers.

By the way, is MT repaired or does another/new link exist?
My page still shows Rocketman at 100%. Would be great if somebody could help.

Is Pulse just totally down? Not getting updates on the tracker.

Pulse completely down, even on the iPad.  And I mean completely down as it isn't loading any data, as opposed to repeating the same data over and over.

Pulse broke at some point today.  Guessing 11am EDT/8am PDT judging by those timestamps.

EDIT:

If you check the timestamps, those numbers are the exact same ones you posted a while ago.

Well if this keeps up we’ll have a really exciting Tuesday, just like the olden days. I think it was @narniadis feeling wistful for an opening with more sense of surprise sometime earlier this year?

Even in the olden days we had at least movietickets and hsx with e.g. MTC (or how it was named) and lots of other reports :(.

Looks like this is it boys, pack your bags we're done.

Deepest condolences to @CoolEric258 @Porthos @el sid @TalismanRing @Thanos Legion, we thank you for your service the past months / years.

The Corporations have finally cut us loose and restricted our access to data.

RIP AKValley Data 2018-2019.

Guess we'll just have to go back to parking lot reports now right?
