Why isnt anyone tracking Angry Birds lol

It is being released on a Tuesday which means it won’t be a good comp for future releases. It is more something to check in on for its first day.

Angry Birds Tuesday:

Theaters: 216

Showings: 1306 (82% of Dora at the same point before OD)

Tickets Sold: 2458 (42% of Dora or 2.21 million) (+545 from yesterday)

Tickets Available: 161129 (83% of Dora at the same point)

Estimated ATP: 10.47

Estimated Sales: 25745 (48% of Dora at the same point or 2.5 million)

Estimated Nationwide Sales: 180k

Considering the slow gain from yesterday and Tuesday release should be a bit more presale heavy looks like OD may be in the 1.5-2 million range.

I looked at IT 2 at AMC Empire 25 after a week and I dont see a huge movement. This needs a push via a new trailer plus prominently marketed at Fandango/Atom etc.

That said it has huge amount of shows(34 overall). So if it accelerates close to release it should still have huge previews.

Spoiler

Like the homie Keyser has been saying, activity was almost non-existent today. I don't know if that signals bad omens, but it's still far enough away to not pull the panic alarm just yet.

We're in the dog days, IMO.  It's still nearly a month away and it's in a genre that doesn't have a lot of pre-sales until closer to release.

Should be fine, IMO.

Not really sure what to use as a comp for this film, since as I understand it horror isn't that pre-sale heavy.  Maybe.  For now, gonna throw in Detective Pikachu since it's the only film that I have info on that had light pre-sales this far out.  I'll add back in more films closer to release.

So I was prepping up my tables for next week, but I think Angry Birds got moved up a day? Before previews started at 4 on Tuesday, but now all of a sudden it's starting at 10 AM. Is that just a last-minute date change, or is my area being weird?

Yeah, we got the notification for this last Thursday. Sony was changing the pre-opening times from 4:00 PM on Tuesday to all day Tuesday.

Films that we have been told to post advance tickets for this week are Angel Has Fallen, Hustlers and Downton Abbey.

TS4 and Hollywood open this weekend in Germany and while they get the biggest screen (shared).

The number of showings at the Cinestar Bremen for Thursday is:

TLK: 7

TS4: 6

Hollywood: 5

H&S: 5

Nothing say confidence in the new opener as having the most showings for a movie in its 5th weekend.

In total seats the order is probably TS4, Hollywood, TLK, H&S.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-3 and Counting

Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold
TOTALS 0 14 45 2,364 1.90%

Comps

0.68x of Crawl 3 days before release (0.7M)

0.36x of Scary Stories 3 days before release (0.85M)

It's still in a low number of theaters as of now. Lower than the other two at the same time in fact. But that's still pretty bad numbers right now, especially since one theater takes up 33 of those sold tickets (73%). Weak stuff

Good Boys Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-3 and Counting

Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold
TOTALS 0 25 130 3,524 3.69%

Comps

1.88x of Stuber 3 days before release (1.4M)

1.06x of Scary Stories 3 days before release (2.5M)

I threw Scary Stories in there as one not to be taken too seriously. But that film was a surprise August breakout with strong presales and had a big-name producer behind it, similar to Good Boys. I don't think it will reach that high, especially since Scary Stories was a well-known IP, but that Stuber comp doesn't seem all that crazy. So if we are looking for a breakout this weekend, this feels like the one.
