The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

I just looked at NYC and it has 2 shows listed in.1 theater at AMC!!! Even Empire 25 or Lincoln Square do not have any shows. I am not sure its a movie worth tracking so far off. May be during the release week we will see some action.

Edit: did a quick run at 2 chains.

AMC - 985/67126 (371 shows)
Cin - 464/57889(396 shows)

I dont think I have seen fewer shows or lower numbers so far but my data is limited. Plus I did not see any PLF. so its looking like 11k $ worth of PS in 1/3rd national market. Its too early to make any prediction beyond that PS won’t be helping it that much.

I think they are doing early previews next week which is going to hurt Thursday preview numbers for the next few days.

Is...is this legit?

Yes, but...

Atom has grown so much its like not legitimate for comparisons.

Atom gained Cinemark but lost Regal in the meantime.  Did add a bunch of other minor chains though.

west coast was sleeping when Endgame went on sale

This is the bigger factor, in my mind.  Tickets went on sale at 5am Pacific time.

Even so, and even with those considerations a very strong start, IMO.

*coming up for air*

Go ahead and laugh at me when I turn out to be wrong, but as I eye my seat maps this is gonna match IW's first 24 hours at the very least.

I'm not even checking most of the PLF seats as I already know them and this thing is selling like hotcakes.

Not EG level hotcakes, so don't get me wrong.  But very very very healthy.

I think I will go ahead and do an informal no-comp five hour check tonight around 10:30 or so my time and report the tickets sold so far.

Hopefully it can beat that. Honestly this might be one of the few movies where IW numbers aren't that great a sign considering that IW's first day presales weren't even at Rogue One level.

I think PS for this movie wont be just for previews. AMC has ticket sales open all the way till 3rd weekend while Regal has it till 2nd Jan. I dont know about Cinemark yet. Its doing phenomenally well. Let us not belittle what we are seeing. I am hope by this weekend have numbers all the way at least till christmas to see how the ticket sales are doing. Dont forget Christmas was 2nd biggest day for SW7.

Not this far out it won't be. Right now anything post Saturday looks pretty dead at the theaters I've looked at. We're still 2 months out after all.

I tried running my script for AMC and of 4313 preview shows I had pulled in data only for 765 shows. Rest did not return data.

For those the numbers are 26466/127778 (765 shows)

This is just for thursday previews. The rest(3548 show) are not returning data. I will try again once the dust settles down.

FYI the message I am seeing is https://ibb.co/sWt43WN

Tickets have been on sale for three hours.

The trailer dropped 75 minutes ago.

It's 2019 so server capacity is greatly increased.

I'M STILL HAVING OCCASIONAL CONNECTION TROUBLE TRYING TO LOG INTO FANDANGO!!!

==

Okay, not all the time.  But I keep getting the occasional ERROR 500 message on Fandango.

...

Makes me feel good, to be honest.
