Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Greater Philadelphia Area Seat Report T-59 and Counting

Sellouts Showings Seats Sold Total Seats Perct Sold
TOTALS 1 139 5,390 26,280 20.51%

Holy shiz. To put that into perspective, in only a few hours, TROS sold more tickets than almost every film I've tracked so far's final total, the sole exception being The Lion King. I obviously don't have any comps, outside of Charlie's Angels, which...c'mon, but already selling 20% of your tickets is mad impressive, and while passing Lion King's 7,607 tickets will take a while, hopefully this comes sooner rather than later.

STAR WARS - LINCOLN SQUARE 13

In the first hours of the Great Tracking Resistance of 2019

one tracker, a young Captain, who was slightly distracted

by mod duties and the game of Survivor to deal with AMC

noticed a disturbance in the numbers.  Six showings labelled

as SOLD OUT showed up on the AMC website and ATOM app.

Whether these 3 6PMs and 4 7PMS are real showings or glitches

we will not know until tomorrow.  Until there, I leave you with

the wild Previews Estimates....

LS13 - STAR WARS - First Day Sales
Movie Sold % Estimate
Endgame 4665 51.14% 30.68M
Star Wars TROS 2386 --- ---
Joker 1082 220.51% 29.32M
Lion King 1002 238.12% 54.76M
Dark Phoenix 479 498.12% 24.91M
Godzilla 434 549.76% 34.63M
It: Chapter 2 306 779.73% 81.87M
Toy Story 4 287 831.35% 99.76M
Aladdin 277 861.37% 60.29M

Very happy.  It's right where I want it to be.  And if there ARE at least 800 (assuming they 7 showings are ALL the the smallest theater) to 2534 (assuming they are all in the LARGEST largest) missing, we're... well... In The Endgame Now.

The Force is certainly strong with these numbers:

TROS Thursday:

Theaters: 278 (!!!! Seems like a bunch of Cinemarks are switching to reserved seating for this one)

Showings: 2699

Tickets Sold: 109202 (back of the napkin math and estimating ratios it's about half Endgame's first day total which I estimate to be in the 200k range based on my limited data for that)

Estimated ATP: 13.17 (!!!)

Total Estimated Sales: 1,438,412 (!!!)

Estimated Nationwide Sales: 10 million

Using normal ratios:

Estimated Total Nationwide Presales: 20 million

Could hit 15M or more by the end of 24 hours?

I don't have exact Endgame numbers for day 1. As I said in the post, using back of the napkin calculations about half of Endgame day 1 for Thursday. Overall, using similar approximations, probably less than a third of Endgame day 1 overall (because of how ridiculously insane Endgame's sales were for FSS). But, there's still time in day 1 yet.

It's hard to say.  One one hand people have been asleep for a decent amount of this time, on the other hand tickets dropped right in prime ticket selling time.

TROS - day 1 ticket sales, I tracked 22 theatres that were reporting.

8434/43371 so a little above 19% which is obviously very good and I expect way more showtimes to get added later on.

I don’t have any good comps for this really but it has already surpassed Jokers total sales that I had from the day before preview night. Obviously this is going to be way bigger but that’s the only somewhat useful comp I have from my info.

I’ll update these numbers every week going forward.

After 13 hours of pre-sales at Salt Lake's Cinemark Sugarhouse, TROS has sold 423 tickets for Thursday night. This surpasses the entire run of Joker and It: Chapter 2, and puts it only 63 behind where Lion King was about an hour before its first preview. Only the very last show and a single 3D show mid-evening have any tickets left, though more will surely be added.

Absolutely nuts.

How do the numbers compare to TFA's first 24 hours? Idk if anyone mentioned it yet

There was also a lot of pent up demand for TFA that makes its presales hard to do for comparisons. And of course the difference of how presales work now even compared to just 4 years ago.

Big difference in first film in a decade and the 5th in 5 years.
