Also, spoiler alert...today's are demolishing yesterday's numbers.  All of the theaters on the West side of the state that were basically full have all added showings in the last two days.  Looks like people have been waiting for those showings to open up and are buying in bulk.

Slight acceleration at MTC1 and good one at MTC2. I am expecting huge ramp up starting wednesday. I think 3x this number can happen.

Definitely a good ramp up at MTC1. Slightly lower ramp up at MTC2. But I am expecting starting tomorrow it should go way more than today and on thursday walk-ins will be huge. Comparitively its ahead of all movies released I tracked over past 10 weeks except Joker and Frozen. So let us hope with huge walk-ins it hits 4m previews and 50m+ OW.

Looking at Bumblebee, that did $8.5mn from $2.25mn. So about $13mn OD. In fact that will be close to Spider Verse numbers. So a $35-37mn of $3.5mn Previews seems about right.

I did check few days back and while it was slighlty ahead of previews it was still weak. I will try to do the weekend tomorrow at day time. now my scrapper is running very slowly and I am trying to get SW9 previews running 😞

Bumblebee would be a bad comp - more than likely, could be surprised but you are talking a spin off of a dead franchise with a reviled failure of a last film. Very different set of circumstances and Bumblebee at least made up for it in the legs. Spidey also would be / was more frontloaded than normal. 

Would be hoping for at least 12x the preview #.

I normally not focus on Previews to Weekend multi. Previews can be best judge to OD and derive rest of weekend from OD. That's my approach.

For the record, I actually kinda screwed up with the tickets sold yesterday, but I fixed up the post in an edit. It didn't really change my views, but just wanted to clarify if people are confused by the math. Sorry about that, but hey, that stuff happens when you track as much as I do.

 

Anyways, today was pretty good, and much better than the last few days where sales were piss-poor and stalling. There was a huge showcount increase like what @TalismanRing had with her theater, though I'm still not sure why. But outside of that, there was a good jump in ticket sales and the comps all acted accordingly. It's still a touch soft in terms of numbers, but if tomorrow and Thursday rally, things could turn out okay. At the very least, the Maleficent comp could reach to 3M, which would make 40M very possible IMO.
