The actual Thurs/Fri split isn’t provided, even to Jat (or Rth afaik, but they’ve been at this longer so maaaaaaybe?). Data that is available is for true Friday only, and incomplete. But it strongly suggests that the True Fri should be higher than the OD actual minus 57, so previews being lower is just a well-educated conjecture and exactly how much lower is unknowable.

Since @Jedi Jat asked for it, here are Day 4 numbers. Quite strong but not surprising considering we are so close to christmas. But keep that in mind while predicting multi for this movie. This wont behave like SW8.

I will try to do at least D5/6 where PS was quite big when I checked around a week ago.

That's about -21.5% from Saturday PS. PSm will increase, shall translate to $39.5-40mn Sunday. A little higher drop than what I was expecting.

Think I am going to go with about a 1.1 bill total for this film now. Yes slightly disappointing from what we had in mind prior to seeing it but after seeing just how rushed the movie seems having it cross a billion at all is good.

 

They just need to regroup and plan things out better and I believe that is what they are doing now. And in the meantime it looks like we will have plenty of quality Star Wars television to watch.

Of what not crossing a billion or that they are planning things out better for future movies? Don't think the movie is in any danger of not crossing a billion with the holiday traffic still to come. Even with a slightly disappointing OW it will still be about 400m WW by the end of the day.

as someone who enjoyed the film it's sad to see it burn down and crash, so 1 Billion is all Im asking for.

True. That is what happens though when you try to make an Ep. 8 and 9 into one movie. I enjoyed the movie as well but it is clear as day that the first hour was JJ's episode 8 and the second hour is JJ's episode 9.

Looks like 176 domestic and 374 WW total for weekend according to Hollywood Reporter. Disappointing but kind of expected due to the quality of the film. No doubt many fans liked it but it definitely has a massive amount of flaws. Will probably have to wait to mid January or so to cross the billion mark.
