@Eric Dolittle I saw that Sonic started sales a few days ago. Are you gonna track it next week?

Um...I don't know? Maybe if BOP or even Deadline tracking pushes it to the 40M range or higher next week, but probably not. Again, my personal decision on what I track depends on whether or not 40M seems possible to the BOP crew (yes I know that bit me in the ass when it came to Dolittle/Bad Boys). Also, none of the theaters I track have tickets up, so...shrug emoji.

The Turning is getting dumped completely. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Black Christmas-esque opening.

About the same for Hansel and Gretal.

Granted, those are both low budget  movie anyway, even if they bomb no great loss. The hollywooq equivalent for blowing five bucks on a slot machine..

I’ve had Gentlemen pegged for an under 10m OW for months. Nothing I see here tells me otherwise. If it cracks double digits, it’ll be barely

I thought Turning could open decently enough (like 11m) but welp

I’m convinced BOP will easily beat tracking. The trailer is fun and always gets a reaction in theaters. Final marketing blitz will now take off, and these next 2 weeks look brutal, giving momentum to a box office breakout

And Fantasy Island is less then a month away, and little int he way of marketing other then releasing a trailer. If the marketing does not pick up a LOT in the next week or so, looks like another dump.

It’s from the same team that made Truth Or Dare so I have zero confidence that it will be any good.

I have no opnion as to whether it is good, but unless it starts getting some marketing buzz soon, it's going to be another film that will not be around long.

Horror movies, especially the ones from BH usually only release one trailer and only start the marketing campaign few weeks before the release, that's the reason they're usually understimated by tracking.

Remember when people said there was zero marketing and buzz for Insidious 4? It opened at almost $30m.

Horror movies doesn't need a blockbuster level of marketing.

My theater must have put up showtimes for the new releases either late last night or early this morning. So far 2 showtimes for each movie with The Gentlemen snagging a large screen and the other two getting pushed to smaller screens.

The Gentlemen: 11 total

The Turning: 0 💀

The Last Full Measure: 0

*Given that these just went up within the last day, I’m interested to see what increases if any these movies will have. I still think The Gentlemen can pull a surprise...nothing crazy but maybe a low to mid teens OW which would be solid but I think the other two are DOA.

Turning Previews

MTC2 - overall 447 shows 428/61480 4652.00 1/20 3PM

Gentleman Previews
MTC1 - overall 268 shows 2656/38861 36276.47
MTC2 - overall 386 shows 824/53646 9329.00

As I said nothing much to its PS though Gentleman looks like having bigger previews. I will revisit on wednesday to see if either one looks like breaking out.

Update (T-2)

Gentleman

MTC1 - overall 421 shows 4255/57093 56923.20
MTC2 - overall 570 shows 1245/74286 14128.00

Turning
MTC1 - overall 416 shows 1759/54031 23591.81
MTC2 - overall 585 shows 736/75614 8035.00

Dismal PS overall. Gentleman should win this one though neither one would even hit 1m prev or double digits.
