Both Shazam and Joker started previews at 4 pm while BOP will be starting its previews at 6 pm. I think $ 8m previews should be enough to do about $ 70m OW.

I'm sure that a lot of people are going to predict doom and gloom. But it's important to recognize that when I track 8 days before release, that means I'm tracking movies which had way more days to get tickets and presales up. So for something like It 2, which had like a month's worth of presales, that really means something. I know I probably could do it by "first day of presales", but on the other hand, I'm lazy and don't want to put in the extra work. Woe is me.

 

But with that said, since Joker wasn't that far apart in presales, I did look at the first day between the two. It is better, with Birds of Prey about 0.3x of Joker 10 days before release, but that still only gets it to about 4M. Will it get better? I think so, but I don't feel ultra-confident in 8M previews just yet. As always, let's just see how the next few days go.

Rhythm did slightly better % wise increase but both numbers are awful. Both are looking at sub 0.5m previews barring huge final day jump.

8m was not a prediction but just as aspiration based on what i saw at Empire. The OD  overall across 2 MTC does not indicate that big a previews. I dont have a prediction now with just 1 day of PS.

80% of Joker [13.3m] would be 10.6m. Would be really fantastic if this got to 10m like Venom but I'm expecting 6.5-7.

That is just one big plex. I dont want to project from just one theater. For 8m previews it needs 130K from MTC1 and at least  80K from MTC2. Not sure it will get there. Let us see how things go.

Its Friday number isn't that bad. And the first reviews are indeed mostly fresh (67%) but will the audience like it? E.g. The Witch opened with 8.8M so I don't completely rule out 10M here.

Considering that it's a SS spinoff, I'd be fine with a 66.5 mil OW (half of SS), especially since it should have a soft second weekend drop. I think it needs 7.5 mil in previews to reach that OW though.

The only theaters for BoP in my area that are filing up are the Dolby screens. The theater with recliners that usually sell briskly are weak so far. 

 

Shazam presales were pretty weak from what I remember even week of release but this one will be more PS heavy. Guess let's see what its like by Tuesday.

Yeah presales here are also small to non existent.That being said, the marketing for this is even worse than Shazam.There is no tv spot, no random ass posters on buss station...nothing...WB can’t just expect to sell tickets by people seeing a colorful poster on the theater’s website with the tile “Birds of Prey”.Most people here don’t know what this is and most people here don’t know that this movie even exists.

Joker had 18096 at MTC2 on the same day but had been selling for several days at that point. By Sunday it was at 28006 and the difference there will be much more telling.
