Universal’s trailer for F9 (aka Fast & Furious 9), since dropping its near four-minute trailer on Friday ahead of the Super Bowl, has clocked a massive 439.3 million global views across YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. And that number is growing. The ninthquel doesn’t open until May 22, Memorial Day weekend.

Before we delve into more trailer stats, all of this has resulted in advance tickets sales for F9 through its first four days on Fandango outstripping Fate of the Furious by 50% over the same period. In addition, F9 has sold nearly four times as many advance tickets as Hobbs & Shaw over four days. At $541.9 million, Fate of the Furious is the third-biggest global opener and Universal’s biggest worldwide debut of all time; the pic opened to $98.7M stateside in April 2017.

But get a load of some more F9 trailer records: In its first 72 hours it amassed 262M global views, which bests Avengers: Infinity War‘s first trailer drop over the same period (that movie having done 238M in its first 24 hours). And at 151M, F9’s nearly 4-minute trailer is a 24-hour record for a Universal movie.

Also, let’s not forget about the Super Bowl. The 30-second spot of F9 drew 8M views in its 24 hours following the game. According to social media analyst RelishMix, the combination of the 30-second spot plus the full trailer churned out 110.9M views in the 24 hours following the Super Bowl across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, dwarfing the online postgame traffic for a slew of upcoming event pics including Black Widow (18.1M), Mulan (12.4M) and No Time to Die (10.1M) among many others.

37% increase in daily sales doesn’t seem like what you’d wanna see on a T-1 where great reviews dropped. Hoping MTC1&2 outpaced that.

Wait what? I just looked through all 3 platforms and I didn't see views anywhere near that. Although I just found out that the Hobbs and Shaw trailer got 106 million views somehow.

Edit: According to this same article Hobbs and Shaw's super bowl spot was bigger than Endgame???

Could be Vin Diesels personal channels bumping views maybe, I think they don’t just check main channels but also international channels and other places it gets uploaded.

I mean the non-main channels don't really add enough views though. Not for the numbers they're talking about anyway.

Yeah don’t know then, if they didn’t specifically call out across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube I’d think maybe it was hugely watched in China and that could’ve added to it but with the way they’ve worded it that can’t be the case.

Genuinely shocked at this number. Three of the theaters I tracked exploded in terms of sold tickets, so the majority of it comes from them. But that's still really strong either way.

MTC2  - overall 1869 shows 12518/297325 161516.58 +2291

WB really messed up by delaying reviews so late that they have left too much to do for final 2 days. May be they are hoping this to play more WOM driven than buzz driven. let us see how things go. I will update OD numbers once soon but its doing good and show count has gone up big time as well. I am expecting preview showcount to bump up tomorrow as well as they firm up thursday showtimes.

Birds of Prey (T-1)

MTC1  - overall 1737 shows 41791/346533 696200.23  +9332
MTC2  - overall 1925 shows 17800/304753 228047.27  +5282

if it doubles these numbers tomorrow(not an easy target but possible with walkups) it will hit 5m. I would say ~ 4.5m just to play it safe but it could go lower as well if walkups are bad.

I will say overall its first time I am seeing previews so skewed towards NYC/LA for movies other than very small openers(Only other movie that skewed so much was Gemini Man). Overall WB dropped the ball or as few others mentioned its a movie that is a hard sell as there is little interest.

At least strong reviews could potentially help with better than norm legs for the genre. I will update day 1 numbers as well soon.

Better day for OD PS than Presales and ratio between MTC1/2 is almost normal. As I said in my previews update, this could be a late bloomer.

Its at 4K shows at both MTC and that could still go up a bit. SO it has the show count to have a good OW. Its all down to walk ups.

If you guys are expecting $4.5-5m previews, wouldn’t that suggest a low $40m’s opening weekend?

Was hoping for $50m+
