It's roughly about 60% of Far From Home on all platforms, Twitter is ahead but that goes to the fact that it is an whole day online event, which means bigger engagement and Twitter views are "2 seconds", which includes autoplay.

You Tube views are pretty low.

....I don’t think you understand how insane the IW and Endgame trailers were lol. They put up a million likes before Batman put up a million views lol

Why did all of these posts ignore the bolded below-

Now well over 10 million with Twitter and Youtube links combined.

This is the largest social media response to a teaser (the film is still well over 1 year away) since THE FORCE AWAKENS late 2014 teaser.

The Batman trailer is YouTube number 1 global trend and it continues to be the top trend on Twitter. Context is -obviously- everything with any type of statistical analysis. This is a film that is currently 14 months away and the trailer showed very little.

The last year-in-advance teaser to generate anything resembling this level of buzz would be THE FORCE AWAKENS. Nothing else compares.

A trailer gives a film hype not the other way around.

Its not like this was a surprise announcement of film nobody know. Entire fanbase was expecting it and numbers are about same range of what DC usually do, nothing abnormal.

How many other hyped movies even have a year in advance trailer lol...this is just selective. Besides, I don't see why being a year in advance would make the hype less than a trailer several months in advance.

The vast majority of movie-goers are not thinking of properties 6+ months away. The trailers themselves notoriously show little plot or footage. This type of response is a sign the most foundational level of curiosity is extremely widespread.

Because it's a DC movie with a sizeable fanbase and an iconic character. The trailer views are strong but you are massively exaggerating how strong.

Not in terms of social media. We see very little from China, Korea or Japan.

What are you saying?

You don't know how impactful is Korea on Twitter? Japan is pretty active too and not to miss entire South East Asia + India.

China has its own social media. Mulan did 175mn views on strength of China.

Not true whatsoever. Consider Batman's massive box office history of success, 4 of 7 films of have broken the opening weekend record, a 5th almost certainly would have set the attendance record, THE DARK KNIGHT remains the most popular and influential film of the millennium to this day, low-budget, gritty, R-rated JOKER just opened to $96m and finished with $1.1b global. The BATMAN fanbase is massive by any definition. This level of immediate and extremely enthusiastic response is a pretty telling sign of which direction this movie is headed. If it does move to holidays in 2021, it is pretty much a lock to be #1 domestic for the year. It is easily the years most anticipated film.

I'm as big of a Dark Knight fan as any, but I think you're over-estimating even that film's legacy. Most popular and influential film of the last two decades is a pretty big stretch, unless you're talking about niche online forums of Nolan or DC fanboys.

I don't think being a year out really has anything to do with how many views this teaser is getting. No one would see this video on their YouTube home page and be like "oh the movie's over a year away, I'm not gonna bother watching it." The only thing that would really affect a trailer's viewership if its release is so far away is how many theatres decide to play the trailer in front of other movies.

Name a film more influential? Avatar was certainly influential starting the 3D trend, Avengers/MCU influential in terms of world building and team up, Jurassic World influential in terms of kickstarting this nostalgia trend, Batman Begins & Casino Royale started this trend of "reboots". But the actual substance of a film, pretty clear, TDK is number 1 with all the blatant rip-offs, lines that are still quote in pop culture, etc. Hell, it is quite obvious THE DARK KNIGHT holds some influence THE BATMAN too.

If you look up actual year-out teasers, it's pretty clear the views are much lower than standard trailers and this has been common knowledge in the industry for decades. These exist almost solely to build awareness and test curious interest levels, they're not expected to generate real engagement yet. By the time THE BATMAN opens, this teaser will be blip on the radar.

Staying on subject, in contest, these views are huge and signal what would certainly be a $200m+ opener during normal conditions.

You guys should know by now there’s different hype for Marvel and DC and they just can’t be compared anymore, we’ve see this in the past with trailer views etc for the different franchises . Yes the Batman has huge hype but It’s a different type of hype (kinda like Joker hype) not Endgame hype.

Just enjoy what you see and let’s hope the world gets back to some form of normal in a year or so and we can hopefully see some big numbers again next summer.

And yes, I won’t be commenting anymore on this in this thread.

I don't know who will be the 1st global film in 2021, but I'm sure Batman will be the biggest 2021 film in the Western world (Europe, north America, latin America), all he needs is to have a decent BO in Asia to be 1st global in 2021.

It is no coincidence that Joker with an R-rated drama movie with no big action scenes managed to make $1.08 bi WW without China (bigger than the recent Spider-Man films that had help from being released during infinity war/endgame saga), both Joker and Batman are very, very popular characters nowadays, and the response to the Batman teaser is being big and positive (and it without the help of being in the hype train of other big films, like Far from home got when it launched trailer in the middle of infinity war / endgame movies).

Jokers overseas numbers were truly insane and TBH IDK if it is realistic to expect The Batman to replicate them. I do completely agree w/ your assessment of North America though.

And all of that history shows exactly why high trailer views would be expected. So far the views are good, but nothing out of this world. I'm just talking numerically here.

They can call or whatever they want lol. It was a full trailer. It certainly showed more than any endgame trailer showed. Warner’s teasers are never teasers.
