Problem is its way too low.

Just 2.5% occupancy in MTC 1 is awful.

MTCs need a few more movies to help carry the load b/c no movie needs half the screens by week 3, even if its Infinity War or Endgame...

Tenet Day 8

MTC1 - 24279/457893 279K (2917 shows)

MTC2 - 20011/335365 222K (2389 shows)

Tenet Day 15

MTC1 - 16492/374857 191K (2319 shows)

MTC2 - 13724/251680 154K (1754 shows)

It did not increase as much as last friday as show count dropped 20%. I guess last week it added new markets but nothing new this week. Next good hold will require rest of California/New York to open and not sure when that will happen. Anyway its looking at around 30% drop

Damn. This is depressing. Just $1.2-1.25mn US, overall NA perhaps $1.4-1.5mn.

Tenet Day 9

MTC1 - 38530/522693  385K (3356 shows)

MTC2 - 30333/375398   333K (2641 shows)

it dropped only mid teens in MTC1 and low 20's in MTC2 compared to last saturday. But overall numbers are low plus there were more theaters that opened. I could see theaters in Orange, CA doing very well and they were not open last weekend.

Tenet Day 16

MTC1 - 28009/426976 294K (2637 shows)

MTC2 - 23214/31717 259K (2184 shows)

Better increase than last week compared to meh increase yesterday. Saturday to Saturday drop around 25%.

So maybe 2.8 weekdays, 32 cume, 4.5 wknd for ~36.5 cume. Overall week some 7.3 without new markets. Seems headed to about 55 from these, dunno what NY, SF, etc will add eventually.

We don’t even have a weekend thread as far as I can tell, so...

Quote

the 3-day clocked $4.7M in a nation where only 74% of all movie theaters are open (based on total grossing capacity), with hard tops still closed in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco. Domestic stands at a very low $36.1M

My locals' new opens this weekend - new movies are being found to try to float the industry...

1st local (Cinemark)

- Shortcut (which is apparently a horror movie I've never heard of)

2nd local (Regal)

- The Last Shift

- Break the Silence: The Movie

And both are putting on the Empire Strikes Back event.

I'm glad there are 3 openers of any type coming this weekend.  I think it was also a good idea to spread them around to give folks options...

How’s things looking @keysersoze123? Or too small to track now?

its quite small. I did look yesterday and MTC1 show count has gone down a lot while MTC2 held extremely well.

Tenet Day 22

MTC1 - 10268/161438 133K (977 shows) (-30.5% weekly drop)

MTC2 - 1196 8/182506 143K (1255 shows) (-7.5% weekly drop)

So, 143+133=276 is 20% down from last Friday’s 191+154=345. Maybe 4.6*.8=3.7 or so for the weekend.

Fyi(if anyone is interested) this week it dropped mid 20's in MTC2 and high 20's in MTC1 on friday. Today it held very strong. 10% drop(week to week) in MTC2 and 13% drop in MTC1. It appears there are few day time shows during weekdays. So it increased 63% in MTC1 and mid 80's in MTC2.

I did not track. I expect bigger drop as well. Probably at least 40%.

Finally decided it was too small huh? I was surprised/impressed that you were still going last Wknd.

I was thinking more 30%ish. But Mutants is down 31% weekly yday and Tenet being 10 pts worse would hardly be shocking.

With no official numbers, Deadline is guessing...

War with Grandpa - $1M Fri / $3M 3 day (not bad with Regal closing and so few showings Friday - if it really got $1M Fri, I'd expect $3.5-$4M)

Hocus Pocus - $384K Fri / $1M 3 day

Coco - $210K Fri / $600K 3 day

Surprised the drops aren’t worse with every Regal closing except a few in California. I guess people are just going to AMC or indie theaters instead.

This shows how bad the occupancy rate was that you remove Regal and it won't have overall impact to the market.
