Guess Harkins isn't pre-sales heavy chain, or for that matter even Previews heavy. Unfortunately they don't report hourly numbers, so I have no idea how they do for previews.

 

ATP is $10ish so $7.1K gross on 32 locs. 

 

TL;DR probably not worth tracking it, atleast not worth this early. 

ok seems like the ones I tracked were only standard showings. I missed Dolby and IMAX which are listed separately. 

 

So

Normal - 712 on 147 shows ($7.1K)
Cine 1 - 793 on 17 shows ($11.5K)

Cine Capri - 229 on 9 shows ($2.7K)

 

Total - 1734 on 173 shows ($21.3K)

This looks better than just $7K

 

Will probably track this on weekly basis.

@Porthos its late now but can you in morning make a graph of showing CM and BW trend in Sacramento. add any other comp if you will to.

So I was checking for if there is any other chain which has less theaters but do big BO wise. There's one, Larry and Miller theaters or Megaplex theaters. 15 theaters contribute 0.6% of Nationwide on average but very frontloaded and previews heavy, previews even hitting 1-1.3% of Nationwide in just 15 theaters. I tracked some 7 theaters out of 15 they have all of them selling quite well with over 800 seats, majority IMAX. Though none of them have any social distancing marked separately, so no way of knowing if the seat is sold or not. Though I saw many theaters having 1 seat sold, so I guess no social distancing?

CM is pretty useless even without the difference in theaters given Captain Marvel had 58+ days of presales.  Just complete apples and oranges when it comes to sale pattern.  If I think of something else, sure, maybe.

 

Though, and I hate to be a broken record about this, not being able to adjust most of the pre-2020 movies properly puts a severe cramp in most comping methods.

Can confirm no social distancing at Megaplexs. I live in Utah. Never tracked here just in case @A Star is Orm wanted to expand their tracking. Would definitely be an interesting chain to track, they always do super well with Star Wars and Marvel. One of them was the top theater for Rogue One OW, with 3 others in the top 20. They also had multiple top 25 theaters for The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. I may take up the helm.

Yeah as I said very strong for Previews. For EG they did $545K (0.9%) previews in 15 theaters.

I will 100% be doing it. It is incredibly fast to count because you can open all of the seat maps for showings of a movie at the same time, and using Inspect Element, they are counted in a second. The slowest part will be opening every seat map.

Black Widow in Megaplex has sold 1461 seats in 14 locs. Using $13.5 ATP, $19.7K. That's in line with $1.9-2M Nationwide our other trackings are showing. There is big scope for it to rise.
