Solid day, and finally a reversal in the trend. Let's see if it can continue to trend upward from here on out.

The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, counted today at 10am EST for Friday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 70 (9 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
8 (6 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 4 (9 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9):
1 (4 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11):
9 (7 showtime)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 24 (6 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
87 (13 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 203.
Up 54% since yesterday. That's a big jump but of course on a low level.
Comps: Angel has Fallen (21.4M OW/ca. 20M without previews) had on Thursday of its release week in the same 7 theaters 446 sold tickets for Friday.
Those Who Wish Me Dead had also on Thursday in 4 theaters 89 sold tickets for Friday (THBW sold in the same 4 theaters 190 tickets).
The Tuesday number doesn't fully convince me that it will have lots of walk-ups but OTOH most interested people did probably wait for the weekend and the first reactions from moviegoers. I guess it will for sure have more than 5M OW but 10M will be tough.

F9, counted today at 10am EST (only 2 theaters today, next week all) for Friday, June 25:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 365 (10 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16) : 161 (23 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in these 2 theaters: 526.
AQP II had 9 days before its Previews in these 2 theaters 168 sold tickets (but a good last week, only 15 showtimes and F9 has 1 day less = 8 days from today till Friday). Still, not bad.

I forgot to add the seat count for a theater, hence the overall seat increase. But there are no tickets sold there so far, which is why I forgot. Nothing exciting, especially since this wasn't a full 24 hour cycle. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

SELLOUT NOTE:  Locally, AQP II was still under a capacity cap, which greatly inflated the number of sellouts as well as depressing the amount of seats available.

ADJUSTMENT NOTE 1:  AQP II (adj) is the amount of seats sold after the theaters which currently have unreliable data polluting their seat maps have been removed.

ADJUSTMENT NOTE 2:  F9 (adj) is the amount of seats sold without DBOX seats counted, which started on this track.

Another good day, but comp more less stayed level as it didn't outperform AQP II by enough.  Also slightly wary of that number, as a Regal theater capped out a 4DX showing and I had to guess at how many seats were sold before it triggered the cap.  Went for 50% as it was semi-close to that last night (39% sold) as any other number didn't make much sense.

Slight social media embargo lift bounce?  Could be variance, but 20 more tickets than yesterday points to a bump, if slight.

It will still play. Cinemas sign contracts with distributors that guarantee this (people can still buy tix during the show). Also the process of turning everything off and then back on after only 2 hours is just not worth the hassle (source: i once worked in a cinema).

Few chains in India cancel show under 5% occupancy or so. Personally had Coco show cancelled since I and 3 other folks were only one there.

I watched WW84 last year with  another 3 friends of mine, the manager asked us if we are willing to wait til the next show which is 1 hours+ later and we said no. In the end it became private watch party.

That happened to me twice as well in a North Carolina AMC, my dad and I went to see a matinee showing of Edge of Tomorrow but the showing was cancelled because we were the only two who bought tickets. Same thing a year later with Pan with both my parents. I have no idea what they showed instead.

The emptiest showing I ever had at that theater (or any theater) was Victor Frankenstein, which was just me, my parents, and some other guy. I guess four tickets was the number they needed to sell to show films. 🤷‍♂️

The emptiest screening ive been too was opening weekend of Xmen Apocalypse. Just me. I live-posted through it on this very website.
