I dont see blocked seats even last weekend. Which area we still have blocked seats? I thought there are no capacity restrictions at this point. I used to see blocked seats(at cinemark it was an attribute physicalDistanceBuffer set to true to blocked seats).

Oh, does you keyword search mark a difference between "unavailable" and "reserved"?  I thought Fandango stopped supplying that information ages ago.

*rereads your reply to me from a couple of days ago*

Oh, sweet!  I completely glossed over that distinction.  Think I read your post when I wasn't fully awake and I just didn't catch that.

Oh, wow, that's gonna be a godsend for me when it come to newly opened showings/setting up charts.

You have no idea how helpful that is gonna be. 👍

(or, rather, I suspect you do know how helpful it will be )

Theatres doing it in different ways, as I posted earlier, Cineplex is doing reducing its total available seat count not only by seats bought ( say 4 seats) but will also remove another 2 seats from total available, in order to meet the 50 percent rule. So Im now reducing TOTAL seat counts each time Im doing an update, so my "total seat capacity" is shrinking each time I do an update lol. Its nutty

However, we've seen time and time again that Sacramento is running hot compared to the rest of DOM.  So far 2021 comps are off about 18 to 21 percent from what pre-2020 comps would suggest. With Ontario back, if I guesstimate that comps are now off by about 15 to 17 percent compared to what they were pre-2020, then I get something like 6.72m to 6.88m.  Which is a lot better than current comping is suggesting.

FWIW, Suicide Squad comps to 6.56M with Hobbs and Shaw after lobbing off 15% as of yesterday in Denver

There are a few physical distance buffer seats in scattered theaters (I think they are mostly errors or something). But the bigger issue is these other blocked seats that are labeled identical to sold seats on the homepage (with the difference only showing up on Fandango).

Yeah, we're talking about seats that aren't for sale because they are presumably damaged or otherwise unfit to be sat in.

Occasionally I will see theaters flip/fix a seat from being unavailable to being available.  Presumably after they fixed/upgraded/replaced the seat in question.

Maybe I’m wrong since this is pure speculation but I COULD see WB “salvage” Suicide Squad within next 2 weeks. Maybe like 40 or more? Don’t think it’ll reach 60 like Hobbs/Shaw but I posted in the official thread reviews will be solid and the final marketing blitz will begin soon. I know a superhero movie should have stronger presales but some tracking here has potential

And maybe there’s a bigger desire and pent-up excitement to see a big movie since these next 2 weeks are underwhelming. I had higher expectations for M. Night but both Old/Snake Eyes will most likely finish mid/high teens or low 20s at best. Jungle Cruise will be low 20s. Besides In the Heights, the WB releases have over performed this year (albeit, some may have had indicative sales). Will there truly be no “big” opening again until Shang-Chi at the earliest? I’m doubtful.

Interesting. If you know about a specific show with those seats, I would be able to look if its tagged as anything. They are not blocked for Social Distancing reasons for sure.

Same marked out DBOX seats I mentioned before, along with B19 which is a truly unavailable seat.

(I don't see why you'd need them, but the DBOX seat maps for those two showings are here and here).

DBOX is easy to figure out as DBOX seats have different tags to normal seats. So you need to count only seats that show DBOX unavailble.

But the example you showed about an unavailable seat(B19) that is not sold is tough one. I dont see anything in html code to separate with normal sold ticket. That said when you are looking at large amount of seats(most wide releases at least has 500K seats, few anomalies wont matter while projecting), its irrelevant. But in your situation as well I would think its irrelevant as you track 10K+ seats per movie. 1% of data being bad wont change overall projections. You issue is anamolies with one market over performing or under performing for certain reasons(Genre, Weather, other factors). That said you have been very close with your sample and so keep doing it.

Surprisingly good today, at least compared to others, but still nothing too crazy at this point. I wish I had other family comps I could use here (I have Space Jam, but that overindexed), if only because I feel Cruella might have underperformed here. Maybe when things get closer I'll add in a few weird PG-13 comps, who knows?

I mean...yeah that would be a good preview number, but I doubt it will go that high just judging by how muted other people's numbers are. So...ick.

Yeah this needs to pick up some momentum pronto, but I don't want to harp on it too much. We already argued about it last night and it's too early to pick this up again.

I couldn't do F9 as I forgot to track it on that day, so it'll pop back tomorrow.

Still very small numbers, but it did perk up on the BW side of things, which might be a sign of good things to come. But if not...at least Shang-Chi has a greater chance to break out? Maybe? Possibly?

The only strong looking product between here and Shang-Chi has always been just TSS imo. And that’s got some baggage, though I can’t claim to have expected sales this low at this time.
